Gambling Receipts

I am a native American born-again Christian and our tribe is in the beginning stages of getting a casino up and running. Is it scripturally wrong to take a monthly check from the Indians that has come from gambling?

Q. I am a native American born-again Christian and our tribe is in the beginning stages of getting a casino up and running. Is it scripturally wrong to take a monthly check from the Indians that has come from gambling? I admit I have accepted their checks in the past and spent them. Thank you so much and God Bless You.

A. Many believe gambling to be a sin. At the very least it shows disrespect for the provision God has made for us. But you’re not doing that. You’re only passively receiving income from the Indian enterprise.

Proverbs 13:22 says,”A good man leaves an inheritance for his children’s children, but a sinner’s wealth is stored up for the righteous.” Being a believer, you’re considered righteous. Take the money, pay your tithe as an expression of gratitude and enjoy the rest.
