Al Mahdi And The Anti-Christ

Q. From what I’ve been reading lately, I presume the anti-Christ and al Mahdi are one and the same.  Is this correct ?

A. Because of the similarity in Christian prophecies of the anti-Christ and Moslem prophecies of al Mahdi, a growing number of scholars are viewing the two as being the same person.  No one knows this for sure but current circumstances seem to point that direction.

I first wrote about this similarity in the spring of  2006, but lately it’s become a popular topic, most likely due to the well publicized beliefs of the Ayatollah Khamenei and Iranian Pres. Ahmadinejad who both expect al Mahdi to return very soon, and some believers’ obsession with identifying the anti-Christ.
