The Lord Jesus came to die for our sins. Then why did He want to be betrayed by Judas? Just to fulfill a prophecy? What is the truth behind it?

Q. The Lord Jesus came to die for our sins. Then why did He want to be betrayed by Judas? Just to fulfill a prophecy? What is the truth behind it?

A. It’s not that He wanted to be betrayed, but he knew by seeing the end from the beginning that He would be. God gave man the freedom to choose his own actions. As with all prophecy, the fact Judas’ actions were written in advance (Psalm 41:9) simply means that God knew about them before hand, not that He designed things to happen that way. Being betrayed by a close friend was one of over 300 signs to Israel that the Lord was their Messiah.
