History Of The Apostle John

What does history say about John the Beloved’s family? From what town was he born? And since he was there when Andrew met Jesus, do you suppose he came from the same location as Andrew?

Q. What does history say about John the Beloved’s family? From what town was he born? And since he was there when Andrew met Jesus, do you suppose he came from the same location as Andrew?

A. John and James were brothers, sons of Zebedee and Salome, and like Peter and his brother Andrew had a fishing business on the Sea of Galilee. They apparently all lived in the same general area around Capernaum. (Matt. 4:18-22) John and Andrew had both been disciples of John the Baptist before being called by the Lord.
