Idols In The Bedroom, Follow Up

Posted in: Ask a Bible Teacher

I grew up in the Russian Orthodox church and my mom put a lot of icons all around the house. I never prayed to any of them, but how bad was it to grow up with icons on your bedroom wall?

Q. Here’s a follow-up question for the “idols in the bedroom” one. I grew up in the Russian Orthodox church and my mom put a lot of icons all around the house. I never prayed to any of them, but how bad was it to grow up with icons on your bedroom wall?

A.
If you never considered them as gods, and have since been born again, then all of that is in your past, forgiven and forgotten. You’re a new creation and as far as God is concerned, the old has gone. (2 Cor. 5:17)
