Earthquakes And Famines

Why do you say the end is near when there has been no increase in earthquakes? The year of 2007 has had lower than average major earthquakes than previous years.

Q. Why do you say the end is near when there has been no increase in earthquakes? The year of 2007 has had lower than average major earthquakes than previous years. Also, the only places where there are famines are in Africa and thats been happening there for a long time already. There has been no increase in famines anywhere else in the world.

A. I base my view that the End is near on the facts that Israel is back in the Land, a pre-requisite for the End Times, and that Jerusalem is once again an undivided city, an event that Jesus said would mark the end of the Times of the Gentiles.

Scholars are divided as to whether Jesus said that an increase in earthquakes and famines would be a sign that the end is near or whether He said they’d be characteristic of the Church age. Also, statistics on the frequency and intensity of earthquakes have been manipulated so many times it’s hard to tell what’s what any more. And as far as I can tell no one has ever known one way or the other about famines.
