Earthquakes In Israel

Posted in: Ask a Bible Teacher

I know there’s mention of a massive earthquake occurring in Revelation, so I’m wondering if recent realizations about the stability of the Dead Sea and Carmel Fault lines that both run under Israel could have any bearing on future events there?

Q. I know there’s mention of a massive earthquake occurring in Revelation, so I’m wondering if recent realizations about the stability of the Dead Sea and Carmel Fault lines that both run under Israel could have any bearing on future events there?

A. There have been several moderate earthquakes reported in Israel lately, and earthquakes are mentioned 5 different times in the Book of Revelation in Rev. 6:12, 8:5, 11:13, 11:19, & 16:18. Two of them specifically mention Jerusalem. Comparing Zechariah 14:4 and Ezekiel 47 we learn that the Lord’s return to the Mt. of Olives triggers an earthquake that opens a waterway from the Mediterranean through Jerusalem to the Dead Sea. So the answer is yes, earthquakes will play a major role in Israel’s future.
