The Wave Offering

Posted in: Ask a Bible Teacher

I’ve seen different accounts of what is “waved” at Pentecost/Shavuot – wheat and barley. Does it mark the end of barley (spring) and beginning of wheat?

Can you shed some light?

A. The barley harvest began at First Fruits and the wheat harvest at Pentecost. Wave offerings accompanied both but at Pentecost it was two loaves of bread baked with yeast instead of a sheaf of grain as at first fruits. (Lev. 23:15-16) The bread with yeast is another of those little clues that make Pentecost the most likely feast date for the Rapture. If the Rapture is set to happen on a feast date, that is.
