Messiah Forever!

Posted in: Ask a Bible Teacher

In the many Messianic prophecies in the OT, is it ever stated, definitively, that Messiah is a Divine Person; the Son; God Himself; or anything of that nature?

Q. In the many Messianic prophecies in the OT, is it ever stated, definitively, that Messiah is a Divine Person; the Son; God Himself; or anything of that nature?

OT prophecy describes Messiah’s Kingdom as eternal, but is Messiah Himself ever described as immortal, eternal, etc.?

Many thanks for your continuing instruction. It is a great blessing in my life and faith.

A. The clearest one is in Micah 5:2 where the Messiah is described as being one whose origins are from of old (literally from everlasting) The thought being expressed here is that He existed before time began and would endure after time ends. The Hebrew word is also translated perpetual, forever, and unending.
