Q. Why did Moses send his wife Zipporah away?
A. If you’re referring to Exodus 18, apparently Moses had sent Zipporah to get her father Jethro, because she returned with him and he helped Moses to delegate the enormous burden of acting as a judge for the people. At the end of chapter 18 we read that after helping Moses, Jethro left but there’s no mention of Zipporah leaving with him.
