Are We Really Forgiven?

Posted in: Ask a Bible Teacher

Q. I was surfing the net, when I came upon a site where someone wrote with concerns about our sins not really being forgiven.  The respondent quoted II Cor. 5:10, saying we’ll have to give an account after all about what we’ve done on earth. So, is there a carbon copy of our sins? I thought God would cast our sins into a sea of forgetfulness and remember them no more. Then he quoted I John 2:28, saying that some of will be ashamed when we appear before the Bema Seat. I covet your view on this.

A. The account we’ll give that Paul wrote about in 2 Cor. 5:10 will take place at the Bema Seat judgment where our crowns will be awarded.  If it pertained to our sins, half a dozen other verses in the Bible would be wrong, and we know that’s not possible.   And by reading verses around 1 John 2:28 you’ll see that the shame some will feel will be caused by having to admit they didn’t really believe He’d come back for us to give us eternal life.
