Maximum Trial, Maximum Grace?

Posted in: Ask a Bible Teacher

Q. You quoted in your recent psalm commentary from a friend: “Maximum trial, maximum grace.”

Is this true in the case if the trial or trials is/are caused by our sins? ( If we turn to the Lord for help asking for His forgiveness. If He’s not tired of me always doing something horribly stupid and then asking for His help!)

A. The context of my answer was suffering and persecution for our faith, not willful sin.  However I believe that once we confess and are forgiven God’s grace will apply.  That doesn’t mean that we’ll be relieved of the consequences of our actions, but that God will make something good come out of it. And remember, He never gets tired of responding to your requests for help, regardless of the cause.
