In The Twinkling Of An Eye

Posted in: Ask a Bible Teacher

Q. I enjoy your site very much. I was just read about vanishing in the rapture without our clothes. Do we get new bodies then also? If so, could our souls vanish, leaving our bodies behind? That would be an interesting phenomenon to explain. Thank you.

A. At the rapture, the bodies of the living are transformed, not discarded. Paul wrote that in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, our mortal bodies will become immortal. (1 Cor. 15:53-54) After we’ve gone there will be no trace of us left that would help explain our disappearance.

I think this issue will haunt the anti-Christ because, while I believe he’ll know the truth, he won’t be able to reveal it with out admitting that he’s not who he claims to be.  He’ll make up lies about us but the questions won’t go away.  Rev. 13:6 says he’ll blaspheme God, slander His name and His dwelling place and those who live in Heaven.  That’s us.
