A New Creation

Q. I attend a church that will not use me because I was married before I got saved. I wish some one would explain to them about all old things have passed away. I am a new creation in Christ.

A. I’ve never heard of a church who didn’t allow unbelievers to marry, so I assume you mean you were married and divorced before you got saved. If you’re a mature believer who has demonstrated the spiritual qualities necessary for leadership, I believe you should at least be allowed serve in positions where no marital counseling is required.

I only suggest that restriction because having been divorced yourself, you won’t have much credibility counseling someone that divorce is wrong even if it was before you were saved.
