Enoch, Elijah, And The Rapture Of The Church

Q

What do you believe was God’s purpose for Enoch and Elijah being caught up alive?

A

Deut. 19:15 says a matter must be established by the testimony of 2 or 3 witnesses. I believe Enoch (Genesis 5:24) and Elijah (2 Kings 2:11) were the 2 witnesses who established the theological validity of the Rapture of the Church. Their disappearance doesn’t seem to me to serve any other purpose.

The testimony of Enoch, being the first, carries the most weight. His name means “teaching” which is the primary role of the Church. Like the Church he was born on the 6th of Sivan (Pentecost) and he disappeared before the Great Flood like the Church will disappear before the Great Tribulation. But one witness was not enough. Elijah’s disappearance confirmed the matter.
