Faith And Fear

Q

Sometimes the urgency of a personal issue overcomes us. Fear sets in and we want to flee. My question is this. If we believe we are in danger, do we stay where we are and trust God will move in the midst of it? I feel so guilty for having fear (lack of faith) and believe if I had real faith in God, the situation would change.

A

Everyone feels like running at one time or another, so you’re not alone. If you’re speaking of spiritual danger, places like 2 Cor. 10:3-5, Ephesians 6:10-15, and James 4:7 tell us that when we’re in spiritual battles we should be able to stand in the strength of the Lord and the enemy should flee. For physical danger, read Psalm 91. But always remember, the overriding issue in all these passages is whether you’re walking with the Lord. If there’s any doubt in your mind be sure to seek His assurance. A feeling of peace will be your indication that you’re OK (Phil 4:4-7).
