I Can’t Pretend It Isn’t Happening
When it comes to this whole end times thing, how do I separate that enormous event/series of events, from being a parent and going about my life…especially when everything seems to be unfolding before my very eyes! This is just to big to pretend it isn’t happening!
Q. I have been writing to you for some time now with various questions. Being a fairly new Christian, I am hungry for knowledge and cant seem to get enough of it! When it comes to this whole end times thing, how do I separate that enormous event/series of events, from being a parent and going about my life…especially when everything seems to be unfolding before my very eyes! This is just to big to pretend it isn’t happening!
A. It comes down to our world view. As believers we’re supposed to know that this world is temporary. It’s the next one that’s permanent. While we’re here we’re supposed to live out each day in a manner that glorifies God, never knowing if it’s our last one. That means we raise our children to know and love God and we broadcast His love into our circle of friends and family. We’re not to become overly concerned with worldly things, trusting that He’ll provide for us. He does this by giving us talent and ability that we can trade for income to support ourselves, and by orchestrating events around us so that they work out for our good.
But in all this we’re supposed to stay focused on the real world, the one to come, and to understand the signs that tell us about how soon we’ll be going there. It’s a lot easier said than done, but I truly believe it’s the key to successful living.
