Q. There have been several times when I try to convince some people even “Christians” why homosexual behavior is wrong. One of the arguments I am often given is that there are many species in the animal kingdom who display the behavior. They then try to justify homosexuality by saying if God didn’t intend it, it would not exist among animals; and so they conclude it cannot be a choice. What are your thoughts on this?
A. I don’t know anything about homosexuality in animals, but consider this. If homosexuality is not an acquired behavior in humans then how could God, being a just God, condemn it? It would be like condemning someone for having blue eyes, it wouldn’t be fair. But in both the Old (Lev. 20:13) and New (Romans 1:26-27) Testaments, God condemns homosexuality as a perversion. Therefore it has to be an acquired behavior.
