Judged For Our Works?

Q

Could you please explain what this verse means?

“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what He has done, whether good or bad.” (2 Corinthians 5:10)

A

This is a repeat of Paul’s more detailed explanation in 1 Cor. 3:10-15. After the Rapture, we’ll all appear at something called the Bema Seat judgment, an awards ceremony of sorts. There our works on Earth will be judged. If they were done with pure motives we’ll be rewarded, but if not then we’ll be disqualified for rewards. This judgment doesn’t effect our salvation, just rewards. Our salvation is not based on our good works, but on our faith in the Lord’s good work, done on the cross on our behalf.
