More On The Temptation Of Jesus

Q

I believe Jesus was/is God because of a statement I think you made, can’t recall if it’s actually written Scripture or not but when you said, and I may be paraphrasing it, “In order for God to be a just God, He had to experience everything we experienced.” And to me, in order for God to experience everything we experience, He had to become like us.

Hebrews 4:15 says, “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are–yet he did not sin.”

The Bible only documents one instance of temptation for the Lord, the one we call the temptation in the wilderness (Matt. 4:1-11), but we shouldn’t think that was the only time it happened. Being human Jesus faced temptation on a regular basis just like all humans do, and experienced every temptation we face. This gives Him empathy for our weakness because while He doesn’t have a sin nature, He knows we do, and He can understand what we’re going through.
