No More Time?

Q

Re: Revelation 10:5-6. “The Angel standing one foot on the Earth and one foot on the Sea raises his hands to God and sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer.” I know that Revelation is not in chronological order but it leaves me thinking. How will the End Time events occur if time itself is no longer?

A

I’m one who believes that Revelation is pretty much in chronological order. The only exceptions are when John gives an overview first and then goes back to fill in details, or when he has to describe multiple events taking place simultaneously, or when he carries a thought forward to its conclusion and then goes back to pick up where he left off.

In English Rev 10:6 is phrased awkwardly. Many scholars feel the word translated time really infers the concept of delay. If so then Rev. 10:6 would say, “There shall be no more delay.” The verses that follow seem to support this interpretation, and several major English translations actually read this way. References to time in Rev. 11:2, 12:14, 13:5 and other places confirm that time does not end in Rev. 10:6.
