Where Are they Now?

Q

You recently said “At the end of the Millennium the unbelieving dead from all ages will be gathered for their final judgment. Anyone whose name is not found in the Book of Life will be thrown into the Lake of Fire for eternal punishment.” Where are the spirits of these people now?? Are they in limbo, in eternal punishment or simply not existent at this time?

A

The spirits of unbelievers who have died are in a place called “Hades” in the Greek language that has been translated as “Hell” in English. Contrary to popular understanding this is not a permanent destination, but is a place of torment where these spirits go to await the resurrection of the dead, a final judgment that will take place at the end of the Millennium, 1,000 years after the 2nd Coming. From there they will be permanently consigned to the Lake of Fire (Rev. 20:11-15)
