Please Give This Some More Thought

Q. I agree with your assessment in your latest article on the anti-Christ. But I feel it’s wrong somehow  to tell folks not to concern themselves with their retirement or their careers because of our proximity to the rapture.  We are to be diligent in our watch for Christ and even though it appears we are on the cusp of the latter days we must remember our timing is not the Lords timing. 1948 is the year of Israels rebirth but what does the Lord consider a generation?

My father was a born again Christian back in 1973.  I was just 14 years old but my father was convinced the rapture was imminent and he was wrong. I remember back then and seeing the time go on and on and no rapture and my father’s falling away from the church has stuck in my memory!   Thank God my father found his way back to Christ in his latter years but all of that has tempered me to be cautious.  I will continue to live my life, pursue my job career, save for my sons education, study the bible, and keep my relationship with Jesus alive until the time that I can see with my eyes and know with my heart that to continue to do so is fruitless, or I’m raptured.

You have a big following, Some folks might take you too literally, sell their homes and move to a mountain top in Montana. I know that’s not what you meant for folks to do. 99 percent understand you 1 percent are crazy and its the crazy ones I’m worried about.

A. Thanks for writing.  But please understand that you’re not disputing me, but the Lord.  I am only quoting His word and cited the verses I was using so you can check me out.  You would benefit from doing that.

Consider this as well.  In the last little while nearly 40% of the value of the stock market has disappeared and we haven’t hit bottom yet.  The people who lost that money had the option of giving it to a worthy cause instead of just losing it but they didn’t exercise it.  What do think they would do now if given another chance?  If some estimates of what’s coming are correct, our dollars may soon be worth dimes.  What will people do for retirement then?

People of your father’s time made the mistake of misunderstanding the word generation, and maybe the people of our time have made a mistake somewhere else, but the Lord said these things 2000 years ago and they’ve been true everyday since. By not following his advice we’re choosing to go our own way instead of His and can’t expect the blessing He promised if we get into trouble.

If a believer takes the Lord at His word and stops putting his money in a place where it will depreciate or be stolen and trusts the Lord to take care of his needs while he uses it to help advance the Kingdom, he’s being obedient, not foolhardy.  And the Lord who keeps his promises and rewards the faithful will bless him. You want to wait till it doesn’t take any faith to make that choice, but by then it will be too late. You will have missed your chance to store up treasure in Heaven where it counts.

Please give this some more thought.
