Praying The Lord’s Prayer

Q

I have been praying the Lord’s Prayer 3 times daily for a long time and have recently seen something that made me question if I should be doing this. I refer to a passage that indicates that the Lord knows us and our needs therefore we should not pray repeat prayers. I pray the Lord’s Prayer always followed by prayers for Israel. Should I stop doing this?

A

Matt. 6:7 says, “And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words.”

Jesus was talking about repeating the same request over and over within the same prayer. In the parable of the persistent widow, He taught that we should always pray for what we need and not give up (Luke 18:1-8). God told the Jews not to rest from their praying for Jerusalem and to give Him no rest until He makes Jerusalem the praise of the Earth (Isaiah 62:6-7). There’s no need for you to stop praying the Lord’s prayer.
