Pre Trib or Mid Trib?

Q

In ll Thes. 2:7-8 it’s telling us that the restrainer is not taken out of the way until just before the antichrist is revealed when he stands in the temple and claims himself to be God. This is the middle of the tribulation. Can you shed some light on this? Because I’m really looking forward to getting out of here!

A

Looking through all the English translations of 2 Thes. 2:7-8 I didn’t see any that say the restrainer will not be taken out of the way until just before the anti-Christ is revealed by standing in the Temple. They all look like this;

For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who now holds it back will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way. And then the lawless one will be revealed …

All this tells us is that the restrainer will be taken out of the way before the anti-Christ is revealed. It doesn’t say how long before.

But in 1 Thes. 1:10 Paul said Jesus would rescue us from the coming wrath. The Greek word translated “from” means out of both the time and place of the coming wrath, so we won’t be here when it begins and we won’t be here where it begins. In effect, Rev. 6:16-17 tells us the wrath will begin with the seal judgments. They will take place at the beginning of Daniel’s 70th Week.
