Resisting The Devil

Q

I know that Jesus is my Savior, and I know that the only way to get saved is to believe in Him and His death on the cross for my sins. I have been wrestling with Satan, who is trying to convince me that I am not saved because I don’t have enough faith in what Christ did, and therefore I have to do more to keep my salvation. I know none of this is true, but how can I convince my heart of this and get Satan out of my head?

A

The Lord sent Satan away with Bible verses (Matt. 4:1-11). The same thing works for us. James 4:7 says, “Submit yourselves then to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.”

Close ranks with the Lord. Be in constant communication with Him. Then apply 2 Cor. 10:3-5 to resist the devil whenever you think you’re being attacked. Here’s what it says;

“For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”

There are many verses in the Bible you can use as a divine weapon. Here’s a sample. Matt. 7:7-8 and Romans 10:13 say that everyone who asks for salvation receives it. John 6:28-29 says all God requires of you is to believe in the one He sent. Ephesians 2:8-9 says your salvation was a gift from God, not by works. Titus 3:4-7 says you weren’t saved because of righteous things you did but because of God’s mercy. Ephesians 1:13-14 says your inheritance was guaranteed from the moment you first believed. 2 Cor. 1:21-22 says the Lord has set His seal of ownership on you and put His Spirit in your heart . John 10:27-30 says if you belong to Jesus, no one can take you out of His hands.

Learn these verses well enough so you can use them to defeat any argument contradicts them, just like Jesus did. This is how you resist the devil and make him flee from you.
