Could the sign of the Son of Man appearing in the sky(Matthew 24:30) be the first appearance of New Jerusalem coming into view from Earth?
I’ve received a number of suggestions on what the sign might be, but as you know the Bible does not give us a specific description. Based on Matt. 24:29-30 I think the sign will the only thing visible in an otherwise dark sky. It will be visible from every place on Earth for what appears to be a short but undefined period of time. And it will be recognizable to the people on Earth at the time because the Geek word for sign in Matt. 24:30 means “something by which a person or a thing is distinguished from others and is known.” For this reason the suggestion I receive most frequently is that it could be a cross composed of light. Whatever it is, it will have the attention of the entire post tribulation world, because Matt. 24:30 says seeing it it will cause all the people groups on Earth to mourn.
