The Passover: History And Prophecy

A Bible Study by Jack Kelley

The Feasts of Israel have both a historical and a prophetic fulfillment. In this study we’ll review the account of Passover, the world’s oldest continuously celebrated Holy Day, from these two perspectives.

The Seven Miracles In John

A Bible Study by Jack Kelley

In the past I’ve explained the need for 4 Gospels and the tremendous increase in understanding we can gain by comparing events from the different perspectives of each (read The Four Faces of Jesus). In this study we’ll  focus on the unique character of  John’s Gospel.

Rightly Dividing The Word Of Truth

A Bible Study by Jack Kelley

“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” (2 Tim. 2:15 KJV)

The purpose of this study is to show that the above verse from the King James translation of  2 Tim. 2:15 has been given a meaning Paul didn’t originally intend.  If you’ve heard the phrase “rightly dividing” being tossed around lately, you probably know what I mean.  If not, reading this will help you to be better prepared when you do.

Reuniting Priest And King

A Bible Study by Jack Kelley

“O profane and wicked prince of Israel, whose day has come, whose time of punishment has reached its climax, this is what the Sovereign LORD says: Take off the turban, remove the crown. It will not be as it was: The lowly will be exalted and the exalted will be brought low. A ruin! A ruin! I will make it a ruin! It will not be restored until he comes to whom it rightfully belongs; to him I will give it. (Ezekiel 21:25-27)

Matt. 24 And The Pre-Trib Rapture

A Bible Study by Jack Kelley

Lately I’ve been receiving questions again about various rapture positions.  Several of these questions have to do with the claim that in the Olivet Discourse (Matt. 24-25) Jesus in effect said the Church will have to endure all of the seven years of Daniel’s 70th Week including the Great Tribulation. In this study I will attempt to show why He could not have done so.

Understanding John 6:37-40

A Bible Study by Jack Kelley

All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away.  For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me.  And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those he has given me, but raise them up at the last day.  For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.” (John 6:37-40)

Some interpret this passage to mean the Father gave us to the Son as a gift. People who say this are usually trying to support the idea that it is God who chooses which of us will be saved and then He gives those He’s chosen to His Son. But is that really what Jesus was saying? Let’s find out.

Our Heavenly Body

A Bible Study by Jack Kelley

In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you (John 14:2).

Recently I had someone object to my belief that Jesus was referring to our eternal home in the New Jerusalem when He said this. This person’s opinion is that Jesus was talking about our post resurrection body and he cited 2 Cor. 5:1-2 in support of it.

God’s Argument Against Evolution

A Bible Study by Jack Kelley

(Note:  Following up on the recent evolution/ creation debate, here’s something you might not have considered.)

My wife has a teacup poodle.  We bought her as a puppy almost 13 years ago.  She wasn’t just a pound puppy but a pure bred, papers and all. Expensive, too.  Breeders make a big issue about how they control the process to emphasize the desirable traits of the breed.

What Does the Bible Say? Introduction, It’s About Sin.

A Bible Study by Jack Kelley

I’ve been asked to write an introduction to this series of studies on “What Does The Bible Say” to explain why people need to be saved in the first place. I’ve been told this would be a good evangelism tool for use with those who may not understand this critical requirement, such as curious unbelievers or children who have become intellectually mature enough to comprehend it and are now accountable for their lives.

What Is The Origin Of Good Friday?

Q. I agree with you that the day of the Lord’s death on the Cross was Thursday.  My question is, why do we call Friday, “Good Friday?”  Even if the day of death was Friday, why would it be called good?

Right Side Of Easter, Wrong Side Of Pentecost

Q. What did you mean in your MP-3 study of Gospel of Mark when you said : “They are on the right side of Easter, but on the wrong side of Pentecost” in reference to Christians who bear no fruit?  I thought by definition if you have no spirit in you (i.e. on the wrong side of Pentecost), you are not a Christian.

The Pharisee And The Tax Collector

Q.  Re: Luke 18:9-14, the Parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector.   For whatever reason, I love this scripture, but at the same time, it scares me.  I’m sure I’m to look at the very first part of the scripture for the context.  But, I am thankful for so many things that could be part of my life but are not.  I’m not on drugs or alcohol,  I don’t commit crimes, etc.  I know this is not from my own power, I know it is the Lord.  But how can I pray to express my thankfulness for not being caught up in these lifestyles without it seeming that I’m exalting myself like the Pharisee?

Raptured Children

Q. I am searching scripture looking for something that tells me that the children under the age of accountability will also be taken in the rapture. A friend asked me this and I told her that yes they would be removed at the rapture but could not back-up my statement with scripture that actually spells that out.

Still More On Blood Moons

Q.  I know you have written that you do not think there is any correlation between activities in Israel, the Bible and the moon and sun eclipses. but I do not call it “ironic” that there were eclipses in 1493, a year after America was discovered and the Jews persecuted in Spain; during the 1948 period Israel became a nation again; and then again in ’67-’68 during Israel’s six-day war, a war fraught with miracles. NASA has said these blood moons and total eclipses of the sun have only occurred three times during the past 500 years, as I’ve noted above, and every time Israel has been affected.

Taking The Mark For Eternal Life?

Q.  In Genesis the devil tells Eve the lie that she will not die.  In Revelation during the tribulation men will desire death but will not be able to die.  I read somewhere that this might have something to do with taking the mark of the beast, a temporary inability to die.  Something the devil might offer to get people to take the mark, everlasting life, just to discover the horror of another of his lies.  I know it is speculation but the thought came up as well as the idea to ask your opinion.  What do you think?
