Q. I guess you haven`t read and studied II Cor. 5:17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. If a gay person is born again, “In Christ”, repented of their sins and accepted Christ as their Savior & Lord, then they will put away their old sins and they will become new creatures in Christ. You can’t have your cake and eat it too.
A. You have misunderstood 2 Cor 5:17. “If anyone is in Christ he is a new creature. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” This verse is in the past perfect tense, which means it has already happened and is complete. Once we admit we’re sinners and ask the Lord to save us, we are born again and become a new creature (new creation) in Christ. It is not conditional on any future behavior of ours but depends totally upon the past behavior of the Lord. He died for all the sins of our life (Colossians 2:13-14) so we could have the righteousness of God (2 Cor. 5:21). It’s a righteousness apart from the Law that comes through faith to all who believe (Romans 3:21-22).
And according to Matt 7:2 if you’re going to apply that standard to gays you have to apply it to yourself. Since you still commit some of your old sins, are you saying you have not become a new creature in Christ?
