Q. I fully agree with what you say about homosexuality in the Bible. What I do have a problem with, is how the word homosexuality is used today and what this word in the Bible actually means. The Bible condemns sexual intercourse between men. Full stop. It says nothing about cross dressing, being attracted to men, feminine behavior in men, female homosexuality, etc. I think a lot of misunderstanding and sorrow will disappear when we take the word “homosexuality” out of the Bible and put the original words back, which is sexual intercourse between men. What is your view on this?
A. According to the dictionary, homosexuality is the word we use to define same sex attraction, like heterosexuality defines opposite sex attraction. And the Bible does prohibit cross dressing (Deut. 22:5). It also mentions female homosexuality and says in both males and females the act stems from being inflamed with lust for someone of the same sex (Romans 1:26-27). So it appears homosexuality is the appropriate word.
