Q. My aunt whom I loved sincerely passed away last Thursday after having suffered a stroke two years ago. She was a born again believer so I know without a doubt she is with the Lord. My question is that I prayed for healing and stood on the word by the prophet Isaiah: “With his stripes we are healed”. I believed this for my aunt and I prayed without ceasing yet she still passed away. How do I reconcile this: Doesn’t God heal as he is a healing God? Why was my aunt not healed?
A. I don’t know how old your aunt was when she died, but here’s something to think about. The Lord never promised we could live forever in our sin infested bodies, but He did know the number of our days before one of them came to be (Psalm 139:16). As a general rule human lives average about 70 years (Psalm 90:10) but this can vary. Perhaps the number of your aunt’s days had come to an end and the Lord answered your prayer by giving her the ultimate and perfect healing, eternal life with Him where’s there is no more death or mourning, no more crying or pain, only endless joy and happiness. Rejoice in this and know that you’ll see her again soon.
