What Is Tu b’Av?

Published: August 10, 2023 (Originally published: July 17, 2014)
Q

I have a question concerning the Jewish Feast Tu B’ Av. What do you know about this feast day? Do you know the date? With what we are seeing what is going on in Israel and the world I believe we are pretty close to going home. I am in full agreement with you on Rom 11:25 and the fulfillment of the Gentiles. I am pondering a feast day as event-driven just because we know our Heavenly Father works in a direct order. I would love your thoughts on this especially with shortness of time we are in.

Rebellion In Heaven?

Published: August 11, 2023 (Originally published: June 15, 2006)
Q

When Lucifer said “I will be like the Most High. I will ascend” and etc. it says that a 3rd of the angels plus the Devil were kicked out of Heaven. How is it possible for a Revolt of that kind to take place in Heaven?

If free will is possible to that extent for some angels or all, is it possible for any Spirits of people who have not been assigned to earth yet to revolt as well? In other words, people like you and I that exist in Heaven who have not yet had the opportunity to be born in the flesh yet. How could any evil have existed in Heaven in the pure presence of God to begin with?

Is Alcohol A Sin?

Published: August 11, 2023 (Originally published: February 3, 2013)
Q

I was brought up to believe that there are two kinds of wine in the Bible. One that is alcoholic and one that is not. Talking to a friend recently, he believes that drinking wine is not a sin if you’re not using it to get drunk. So the question is: Is alcohol a sin? Could you provide me with verses that tell us that there are 2 different forms of wine in the Bible?

The Babylonian Captivity and Daniel’s 70 Weeks

Published: August 11, 2023 (Originally published: July 17, 2014)
Q

I recently read, “Israel did not repent of its sin at the end of the 70 years of Babylonian captivity. Some of Jews did return to the Promised Land, but the majority simply settled in the Persian Empire (Iran-Iraq). So how long until God would regather the Jews and restore them back as the Nation of Israel? The solution to the mystery is found in Leviticus 26:18. “‘If after all this you will not listen to me, I will punish you for your sins seven times over.”

If Israel did not repent, the punishment promised would be multiplied by seven times. That means 70 years would become 490 years. This is the length of Daniel’s 70 weeks. Are the Babylonian captivity and Daniel’s 70 weeks related because Israel failed to repent?

Mean Spirited Parents

Published: August 14, 2023 (Originally published: August 1, 2007)
Q

My parents are drug abusers, mean spirited and do not act like parents to me, or grandparents to my son. I am a child of God, love the Lord with all my heart, and am at a difficult place. How can I honor my parents as the Bible commands, but not get caught up in the constant drama of their world. I don’t want my son exposed to them. I feel hurt and saddened that they do not act lovingly to me (their only child) and their only grandson. I have feelings of not wanting to see them or talk to them at all … just cutting them out of my life. I don’t hate them .. I love them .. but I cannot live in their world. What are God’s views on this?

The Cherubim

Published: August 14, 2023 (Originally published: August 7, 2007)
Q

Ezekiel chapter 1 talks about four Cherubim. In v.10 he said that the four had the face of a man, and the face of a lion on the right side: and they had the face of an ox on the left side, and the four also had the face of an eagle. Then in v.14 of chapter 10, it said that every one had four faces, the first face was the face of a cherub, and the second face was the face of a man, the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle. And the cherubim were lifted up. These were the living creatures that I saw by the river of Chebar.

I just want to know if they are talking about the same angels, because from what I read in chapter 28 it seems as it was Satan and I am a little confused. Help me out.

In 1 Cor. 13:1-5 Paul is adamant that without ” Love” none of the other efforts will matter. Who is he wanting us to “Love” and what is his definition of “Love”?

Can I Marry A Man Who’s Been Engaged Before?

Published: August 15, 2023 (Originally published: August 7, 2007)
Q

My boyfriend and are are both virgins and are talking about getting married one day. He was engaged back in college but didn’t get married.

My question is whether their commitment to each other would in any way constitute him having been married before in the eyes of God. I know in Biblical times a “betrothal” was quite binding and could only be ended by a divorce. If I choose to marry this man, I want to be fully convinced it is right in the Lord’s eyes to do so. What do you think about the issue?

Masturbation and 1 John 3:9

Published: August 15, 2023 (Originally published: August 10, 2008)
Q

I have read in your Q&A post that you don’t think masturbation itself is a sin, and clearly, you have missed a vital verse from your bible. This verse most definitely would cover masturbation.

Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. 1 John 3:9

I hope you will prayerfully consider revising your position on the subject matter.

An Unforgivable Sin?

Published: August 15, 2023 (Originally published: August 26, 2008)
Q

I’m scared I’ve committed the unforgivable sin. About a month ago I stopped listening to my inner voice because I had been wrong about the guy I was dating. I thought the spirit was telling me to marry him, but it turned out that wasn’t the case. So by not listening did I turn my back on the spirit? I still love God with all my heart and want him to lead my life. I’m worrying myself to death. I’m so scared God has left me. I never wanted that to happen. I just wanted to make sure I was doing Gods will.
