King James Only?

Published: January 20, 2023 (Originally published: January 5, 2009)
Q

Thank you again for your web site and the time you take to answer questions. I was Reading an article about why this man who is well educated considers the KJV to be the only Bible version that is accurate. I know you also use the NIV besides the KJV when you have written your articles. I would like to know what you think about what this man said about the KJV being the only accurate Bible version.

Ghost Hunting

Published: January 23, 2023 (Originally published: January 12, 2009)
Q

A friend of mine used to be my pastor, very committed to the cause. After the dissolution of the church though, it seemed to devastate him, and he no longer attends church, and has gotten involved with ghost hunting and other bad habits. As far as the ghost hunting is concerned, is it considered occultist? I also fear that with him ghost hunting, from what I hear, they can follow and come home with you. Is any of this true? Can you elaborate on the subject?

Obey God Or My Parents?

Published: January 23, 2023 (Originally published: January 13, 2009)
Q

The Bible says to obey your mother and father. In fact, it says to stone children who are disobedient (Deuteronomy 21: 18-21). What should I do if my parents tell me to do something that goes against God’s word?

The Scarlet Ribbon

Published: January 23, 2023 (Originally published: January 19, 2009)
Q

In your article, “The End Times According to Isaiah, Part 1” you talk about the ritual involving the scapegoat where a scarlet ribbon was tied to the temple door and to the goat, and how it turned white at the moment of the goat’s death. I mentioned this in a Sunday School class yesterday, and someone asked me “Where did he get that info from?” and I thought that was a fair question as we are to evaluate what our leaders say and not just take it blindly. Can you please let me know your reference on this? Thank you so much for your website. I find it very helpful.

Is He Really A Believer?

Published: January 24, 2023 (Originally published: January 1, 2009)
Q

I am concerned about my husband. He insists he is a believer but is not living a victorious Christian life. He is an alcoholic and has distanced his entire family, all his former friends, and I am at the end of my tolerance as well. He keeps asking the why everyone hates him and why nothing he tries is ever successful (monetarily). He has been fraudulent in business, thinks nothing of lying, and does it regularly. I have tried to tell him that it may be possible his failure is due to these very things. He doesn’t want to hear it and thinks its a bunch of bull. The way he talks and acts I’m no longer sure he’s a believer. What do you think?

Portals To God?

Published: January 24, 2023 (Originally published: January 20, 2009)
Q

I thought I heard it all with the self and special anointed TV preachers, their jet planes, mansions, expensive cars, phony prophecy, etc. But this week I heard the most bizarre ever coming from a preacher who said he found several portals that lead directly to heaven. He even has a new book on the subject, so it seems to me he was saying that we don’t need to spend time on our knees anymore, just find the heaven portals for instant “Throne Room Admittance”.

I’ve studied the scriptures for years and find many things in the bible that are above my comprehension such as Jacob’s Ladder, Ezekiel’s vision with fiery chariots, Jesus getting into a boat with His disciples and instantly was on the other side of the lake, etc. Even though I can’t comprehend God”s power I do believe every Word, besides, God is not restricted to our law of physics. My question is, do you have any knowledge of anything in scripture referring to “portals” and what is your opinion of this teaching?

Thank you for your daily questions and answer email. I look forward to it and absolutely enjoy your scriptural response.

What Does Hebrews 10:38 Say?

Published: January 24, 2023 (Originally published: January 7, 2010)
Q

Re: Hebrews 10:38-39. “Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul”. God warns that those who renounce their confession of the Lord Jesus draw back into perdition. His true believers must stand firm, hold steadfast and believe until the very end.

I read this interpretation of Hebrews 10:38 on another website. Do you agree with it?

The Prophecy Of Caiaphas

Published: January 25, 2023 (Originally published: January 12, 2010)
Q

Thanks for your website and your Las Vegas Bible Study. Truly, your work is a gift from God!

I have questions regarding John 11:47-52….

Verse 11:51 states that Caiaphas “prophesied” –I assume that this means that Caiaphas truly received a message from God. Is this correct? Verse 11:52 states: “and not for that nation only, but also that He would gather together in one the children of God that were scattered abroad.” -if Caiaphas made this statement in the presence of the other Pharisees, wouldn’t this have caused a major uproar (predicting salvation for the Gentiles)?

I was unable to locate any other Bible passages that provided additional information regarding this episode.

Who Is Speaking In Proverbs 8?

Published: January 25, 2023 (Originally published: January 18, 2010)
Q

Who, really, is speaking in Proverbs Chapter 8? The scripture seems to suggest it is “wisdom” doing the talking, but isn’t wisdom a condition — a state of being — as opposed to an entity? Whoever is doing the talking seems to be corporeal. It’s a beautiful chapter, but I am a bit baffled as to who is doing this oration. Thank you for the wonderful work you do.

Did God Punish Cain’s Wife?

Published: January 25, 2023 (Originally published: January 19, 2010)
Q

What sin did Cain’s wife commit to have equal punishment of her husband, being banished from God? Surely, God wouldn’t punish her just for being ‘married’ to Cain, would He? As there were no ‘priests’, etc to perform the marriage ceremony, how was this ritual performed, and by whom?
