Did Abraham Start Islam?

Published: January 3, 2016 (Originally published: January 3, 2016)
Q

I recently watched a TV documentary on Islam. They said that Abraham started that religion through his son Ishmael. From where do they get that? Is there anything in the Bible stating or implying it?

Crowns For Believers, Literally?

Published: January 3, 2016 (Originally published: January 3, 2016)
Q

My question concerns crowns and the meaning of the term. I know the Bible mentions a crown of rejoicing, a crown of righteousness, a crown of life, etc., but are these literal crowns to be eventually awarded the believer, or are they metaphors for something else? The old hymn says “Crown Him with many crowns” so maybe Christ is the only one worthy to be crowned? Thank you and God bless your ministry.

Why Do The Children Die?

Published: January 3, 2016 (Originally published: January 3, 2016)
Q

One of the challenges I face when sharing the lord with others and quite frankly for myself as well is the suffering of children. We all have experienced instances where defenseless children for what ever reason through sickness or tragedy have lost their lives. I know that these things will seem small in comparison to the next life but that doesn’t explain why a merciful God would need this suffering from someone not old enough to know what sin is.

Is Earth’s Age Different Than Man’s?

Published: December 30, 2015 (Originally published: January 1, 2016)
Q

First of all I would like to thank you for your site; it’s a rich source of wisdom. I agree with all your view and interpretations. However there is one which I believe needs more clarification.

I read an article concerning the debate over the earth’s age. In it (the author) makes many points which dismiss the possibility of the earth being 6000 years old. He then concludes that the gap theory could be the answer.

However I don’t agree. Almost all of the ‘facts’ he states require at least one of the following to exist between verses 1 and 2 in the bible; death to exist, land to be on the formless earth, vegetation to exist, people to exist and the speed of light to be constant.

However, (to be brief) there was no land for meteors to impact, or for volcanic explosions to erupt from. There was no sea coral slowly growing before God made plants.

My question is; how can we explain all these apparent ‘facts’ as they clearly do not have a place in the gap theory and neither do the fit in our biblical history. Please help me with this because if I was questioned on this matter I really don’t know how I could respond.

Which Is Better? Legalistic Or Sinful?

Published: December 30, 2015 (Originally published: January 1, 2016)
Q

Man’s nature is that of a sinner. It is inescapable until glorification. Following the justification / sanctification / glorification model I think the Bible is clear on the requirements of salvation and the future state of the believer after death or rapture. It seems that sanctification is where we struggle. How is a Christian to live? If man is sinful should we struggle to escape sin and risk legalism or simply “be” and ask for forgiveness.

A Prophet Like Moses

Published: December 21, 2015 (Originally published: December 29, 2015)
Q

I just read an article that claims that the Bible has some prophecies about the prophet to come after Moses in the form of Mohamed. Have you heard something like that perhaps? I cannot remember the actual chapter and verse this Muslim quoted but he says its in the Old Testament.

Will They Still Be Saved?

Published: December 21, 2015 (Originally published: December 29, 2015)
Q

I know the Church is unconditionally saved and we are the only group to be so blessed. This means that if a true believer during the church age committed suicide they would still be saved, albeit lose all their rewards. What about the believer during the tribulation who may be so despaired that they commit suicide. Would they still be saved?

What Happens To Our Bodies?

Published: December 21, 2015 (Originally published: December 30, 2015)
Q

Here is my question. When we are raptured, what happens to our current body? In the movies and just in general the thought is we will just disappear. Will our bodies be left where they are at the time of the rapture, or will they disappear?

Hug For The Day

Published: December 21, 2015 (Originally published: December 28, 2015)
Q

I know that throughout scripture, we are told in what ways society will erode and decay until Jesus returns to collect His Church. Daily I find myself, mouth agape with news of how the world considers “evil as good and good as evil”. I know these things signal the closeness of Jesus’ return. While this excites me, I am saddened and angered by the foolishness, and at times even frightened by the expanding lawlessness. I pray daily that Jesus will extend protection to His children who are caught in the middle of all the madness. Yet I read and hear reports of Christians who are badly mistreated even to death all over the world. I am not sure what is the question I want to ask. I guess I just need for Jesus to show up every now and then and give me a hug and say, “Everything will be alright.” Am I alone in feeling this way?
