Does God Want Us To Be In Pain?
Published: October 1, 2015 (Originally published: October 2, 2015)I have a friend who posted this statement on social media:
“God only uses people who are in pain, crushed, and devastated-who trust Him in the midst of a crushing confusion (Isaiah 66:2). God wants so desperate to sit with us in our pain, but He cannot if we are running from pain.”
Does God sit down with us only when we are in pain? Does God work through us only when we are in devastating situations? I know God works through us when we are humble, but I am not too sure if God wants us to be in painful circumstances so He can sit beside us.
It troubles me to think that God wants us to be in painful and confusion situations because it would definitely go against His character, although He would use it for our good (Romans 8:28). I know God cares for us even in our situations (1 Peter 5:6). What does the verse mean when explaining Isaiah 66:2 within its context?
I would like to use this as an opportunity to encourage people who are in painful situations and minister if possible.
Unforgiveness And Hell
Published: September 30, 2015 (Originally published: October 2, 2015)I have a question regarding unforgiveness and hell. I recently saw a program where they claimed that true believers could go to hell if they harbored unforgiveness in their hearts towards anyone, even if they’re an unbeliever or a stranger.
They used Matthew 5:21-22 and Matthew 6:14-15 as their basis, and said that if you are a Christian there can be no darkness in you and that you shouldn’t believe the “once saved always saved” theory. I know I am a Christian, I have repented of my sins and turned my life over to Him. But what they said has really disturbed me and caused distress. Is any of what they said true?
Conscience
Published: September 30, 2015 (Originally published: October 2, 2015)I know scripture tells us that we all have a conscience through our faith. I love God, it’s the only real purpose I feel. But as a person there are days when I will feel absolutely nothing for anyone or thing. According to my parents I was like that regularly as a child until I found Jesus. Is it possible that I was born without a conscience and through Jesus learned how to have one and feel remorse and guilt?
End times Sign
Published: September 30, 2015 (Originally published: October 1, 2015)Thank you Mr. Kelly for everything your doing. You’ve brought a lot of people to Christ over the years including me. I’ve been saved for several years now and I’ve learned an awful lot since finding your site.
If the rapture doesn’t happen within the next 5 to 10 years are we to assume Israel becoming a nation was not the sign to start the end times and we aren’t that generation to see the second coming?
If so what and how are we supposed to know when this generation is. By all accounts there would be no way of knowing. What is your thinking on this. Thanks again for everything.
How to Witness
Published: September 30, 2015 (Originally published: October 1, 2015)I want to do my part to witness to others, because I want to meet Jesus soon, as soon as possible, and I wish to help “speed-up” the Rapture by helping bring others to Christ.
I’m kinda shy though, and I don’t know how to bring up Jesus well in conversations with random people. I try to pray for my family members, friends, and others who don’t know Christ, but what more can I do to witness?

Emotional Abuse, Betrayal and Forgiveness
Published: September 29, 2015 (Originally published: September 26, 2015)I really need your advice. Briefly, my wife had several affairs and I forgave her each time but she finally divorced me and married another man. They moved into a house 10 minutes away. After 5 years of living in the same neighborhood with them, I had a nervous breakdown and had to leave town. Now it’s 35 years later, and my son bought this house from his mom and lives there with his wife. He has asked me to come and stay with him. I miss my son so much, but the thought of spending time in that house makes me feel physically sick and spiritually disturbed. I have forgiven my ex wife, and in the last 3 years have started praying regulary for her salvation. Jack I can forgive but not forget as I’ve suffered such pain and loss. As a Christian I have forgiven as best I can, but I can’t bear the thought of moving into the home of the person who abused me? Does this mean my forgiveness is not complete? Thank you for your advice Jack.
Salvation of the Jews at the Second Coming

Earning God’s Approval
Published: September 29, 2015 (Originally published: September 30, 2015)Great site. Henry Blackaby asks in his Seven Realities For Experiencing GOD this question: What ways other than Faith have you tried to earn GOD’s approval? I thought that was the only way needed, Are there other ways than Faith needed?
The Salt Of The Earth
Published: September 29, 2015 (Originally published: September 30, 2015)I Converted, My Husband Didn’t
Published: September 28, 2015 (Originally published: July 8, 2008)Five years ago I left the Mormon faith because I came to receive Christ as my Saviour. I was and still am married to a Mormon man. In my heart I feel that I should follow scripture and stay with the unbeliever I am married to, since divorce is not approved by God. But scripture also says to be not yoked with unbelievers.
My husband has no qualms about me being a believer, but prohibits me from talking “religion” in the home, or discussing it with his family. (He is a non-participating member of his church) I sometimes feel very restricted about sharing the “good news” of Jesus because of my husband. I feel it is Biblically correct to follow his request since he is the head of the home.
I do not want to cause problems concerning the marriage because I also feel that by staying in the marriage, God may be using me to reach my husband. Sometimes I feel like I am between a rock and a hard place. Could you please share some insight concerning this situation? I would very much appreciate some input.
Signs Of Believers
Published: September 28, 2015 (Originally published: September 30, 2015)I have a question concerning Mark 16:15-18. These are basically the red letter statements from Jesus about the signs that accompany believers. My question really centers around verse 17. The Lord says “..and these signs will accompany those who believe” NIV. He then lists off the signs in verse 18.
I have personally never seen anyone perform any of these signs, yet I myself and many of my brethren are believers. I have heard an argument say that miracles of the Holy Spirit such as this were only given to the Apostles and first century disciples to help jump start the church. Is there any scripture to back up this claim? That sounds like something passed down so as not to offend believers. Am I wrong to assume that as a believer and with enough faith I could heal the sick, raise the dead, and command mountains to move and they would do so whether first century Apostle or last century Christ believing Electrical Engineer?
I certainly wouldn’t be offended by the notion of my lack of faith to perform these miracles. Indeed, I would welcome it as much to learn and grow in faith. I would even rejoice to see another do such things for their great faith in the Lord.
Do the Gospels Disagree about the Crucifixion?
Published: September 28, 2015 (Originally published: September 29, 2015)My son asked me a question about apparent conflicting accounts of the crucifixion in the books of Matthew, Mark and Luke. In two of these accounts it says the criminals crucified with Jesus both cursed him but in Luke the account says one rebuked the other for cursing Jesus and was saved. Can you you answer this important question for us?
Does God Approve of Polygamy?
Published: September 28, 2015 (Originally published: September 29, 2015)Hi Jack, I wrote to you a while back but did not receive a reply, so I would like to resubmit my question. In all of your years of studying the bible, have you ever found in scripture where God told a man to take a second wife for any reason? Do you believe that it was ever God’s idea for polygamy to take place or man’s idea and God allowed it because of man’s lustfulness?
OSAS and 1 John 2:3-6
Published: September 28, 2015 (Originally published: September 29, 2015)These verses concern me. I can’t keep his commands all the time. Try as I might I just can’t. But it says “this is how we know we are in Him” in regards to keeping his commands. I love The Lord Jesus, but if I can’t keep his commands I’m a liar? I don’t want to be that at all. Do these verses mean, that if I don’t keep his commands that I’m really not saved or never was. I want to live a life for Christ but I’m not perfect and I don’t keep His commands 100% of the time. This verse makes me feel like I have to do works or I’m not saved if I don’t live as Christ lived. I’d really appreciate your help on these verses. It’s really getting to me.
Love God, Hate The Bible?
Published: September 27, 2015 (Originally published: September 15, 2006)My husband says he believes in God and that Jesus is the son of God and died on the cross for us, but he also says that he doesn’t believe in everything the Bible says.
He believes that through translation and embellishing of stories over time that the Bible isn’t accurate in everything it says.
Do you have any suggestions on how to handle this? Thank you so very much for this web site. There was a time when I felt so very low and just didn’t want to go on when God led me to this site. It has helped explain so much to me and gave me back my passion for following God and living again. Words cannot express the thanks I feel about it.
Divine Retribution Vs. Reaping What We Sow
Published: September 27, 2015 (Originally published: September 28, 2015)Under the Old Covenant, there was “divine retribution.” Under the New Covenant there is “reaping what we sow. ” How do these two terms differ? How does grace factor in the equation?
How Do We Know?
Published: September 27, 2015 (Originally published: September 28, 2015)My twenty-two year old daughter was saved and baptized when she was seven or eight, but she didn’t continue to go to church as she got older. She asks questions about the Bible and recently asked how we know that our belief is the right one. After all, other faiths are just as adamant that theirs is the only way to heaven. I am so troubled that she might not understand her salvation or really have salvation.
Revelation Time Line One More Time
Published: September 27, 2015 (Originally published: September 28, 2015)With all the talk lately about the tribulation and the rapture, especially that according to some views we are already halfway through the “week”, I was wondering if you could provide a timeline. Do the final judgements in Revelation take place throughout the final week or just the last 3 and 1/2 years? Can a case be made that one or more of the seals have been opened? In my view the Church will be gone before any judgments start. What do you think?
Angel of the Church
Published: September 24, 2015 (Originally published: September 27, 2015)Once again, thank you for your continued words of wisdom. My question is regarding the sentence before each letter to the seven churches; “To the Angel of the Church, write.” Who is the Angel of the Church; is it an angel, a pastor, preacher, etc.” My understanding is these letters were to be read aloud to the church body. I don’t believe an angel would be standing in the church reading the letters, so I don’t understand who is the angel? I do so appreciate reading on your site daily for answers to questions and your wonderful articles.
Current Events in Syria
Published: September 24, 2015 (Originally published: September 27, 2015)In light of recent developments in the Mid East, do you believe the build up in Syria is setting the stage for Ezekiel 38 or is this something unrelated. One thing that’s perplexing is that seeing that Persia will become part of the coalition how will Israel ever be dwelling at peace and unguarded so long as a sworn enemy like Iran remains a viable threat? Is this some sort of oxymoron or is there a logical explanation? What do you think?
Was I A False Convert?
Published: September 24, 2015 (Originally published: September 27, 2015)You say we are saved by what we believe and not by how we behave. I really would like to believe that but I also know that I made a profession of faith, went to a Bible teaching church, read my Bible every day, prayed, and thought I was living the life as a Christian but fell in to gross sin for a number of years then while still living in sin had a catastrophic event happen that left me no where else to go but flat on my face crying out to Jesus to save me and forgive me. I believe I was a false convert otherwise I would not have lived those years in a life of habitual sin. Isn’t that what this scripture teaches? I am confused.
Ruling And Reigning
Published: September 24, 2015 (Originally published: November 6, 2012)Will raptured Saints rule and reign with Jesus physically on earth during the millennium? Revelation and Zechariah both describe Jesus’ 2nd coming when He comes with His army “clothed in fine linen, white and clean”, which are the clothes given to Jesus’ bride in Revelation 19. To me this means that we are with Jesus when He comes back to reign on earth.
Pillars of the Temple Follow Up
Published: September 24, 2015 (Originally published: September 25, 2015)If the church is supposed to reside in the New Jerusalem, then how can it also reign with Jesus on Earth? How can the church be leaders of the temple when the Jews will still be under the temple law during the Millennium? If we are at the temple, who is in the New Jerusalem?
Below is what you wrote when you responded to the question entitled “Pillars in the Temple.” I’ve also read “The Coming Temple” that you wrote which says that the Jews will be in Israel and the Church will be in the New Jerusalem. Can you clear up the confusion? Are we going to be in both places?
“Rev. 3:12. Here’s the picture: during the Millennium the church will be kings and priests who reign with Jesus on earth. Isaiah 2:3 tells us that during that time the law will be the temple law. And we will be esteemed as leaders of the temple. Never leaving or forsaking its principles.”
