Where Was The Lord?

Published: May 30, 2015 (Originally published: May 30, 2015)
Q

After Jesus rose from the dead, He stuck around the region for a full 40 days before His ascension to Heaven. From what facts I can glean, He only appeared to His disciples on three occasions in that 6 week time-frame. Where, and what was He doing in between visits?

Witnessing To Family And Friends

Published: May 29, 2015 (Originally published: September 25, 2007)
Q

I’ve been a watchman for the return of the Lord for 30 years. As time gets closer, I’ve never seen so many signs that point to the end times events and prophesy being fulfilled. I have family, especially, but also friends, who do not share my love for the Lord Jesus. I’m not sure they even know about the second coming of the Lord, the tribulation, et al.

I guess I’m feeling a sense of urgency even more these days, as I read about Syria and Israel, the talk of dividing Jerusalem and creating a Palestinian state, Iran’s desire to wipe Israel off the map, etc. How do I approach the subject of all this with my 83 year old aunt or my other family members. I guess it doesn’t matter if they think I’m crazy because they won’t if they heed my warnings and come to Christ. How do you suppose the Lord wants me to handle this topic?

Altar Call Or Not?

Published: May 29, 2015 (Originally published: May 29, 2015)
Q

I used to attend a church that gave an invitation (altar call) after the message was given. Where I now attend, the pastor just dismisses the congregation after the message, with no altar call. Personally, I preferred it the old way. Here’s my question. Is the altar call necessary or even scriptural? Should I consider this when searching for a new church?

Is Divorce An Unforgivable Sin?

Published: May 29, 2015 (Originally published: August 5, 2008)
Q

I got married more than 16 years ago to a young woman that I was fornicating with. This marriage resulted in divorce due to constant fights, physical abuse (from her part), and even participation in witchcraft, which I am ashamed to say, I participated too. Before getting divorced, my ex-wife told me that she had sex with her previous boyfriend.

During that horrible time, my best friend back home led me to the Lord. I have been married to my second wife for 12 years now, and we both believe in GOD.

Because I sincerely believe we are in the End Times, I have been studying scripture and I found a website teaching that adultery (remarriage) is a state of being and not a single action, meaning that even though I have repented of my divorce and remarriage, I am still in a adulterous relationship, therefore I am unsaved and going to hell when I die. I cannot change the past, or can I? Can I be forgiven or do I have to get divorced and stay single?

Legs Of Iron, Feet Of Clay

Published: May 28, 2015 (Originally published: May 29, 2015)
Q

When Daniel interpreted King Nebuchadnezzar’s dream to him he mentioned the feet and toes of the great image as being mixed with miry clay and iron. I was taught that the two feet represented the eastern and western provinces of the revived Roman Empire and the ten toes as representing the ten kings that will rule in the last days.

It seems to me that the old Roman Empire and the Islamic nations would meld together politically and religiously as well. Could the iron represent the political part and the miry clay the religious part? I would appreciate any comments or scenarios you may have. I still see things through a darkened glass as well!

Post Resurrection Life

Published: May 28, 2015 (Originally published: May 29, 2015)
Q

According to Rev 21:24-27, it appears there are two groups of humans mentioned, 1. The Kings of the Earth 2.The Nations of them that are saved. I have a theory that those of us who are saved will be given an assignment like Adam had to populate a planet and have dominion over it. Do you think God has prepared for each of as a similar assignment? After all, I can’t imagine that we will do nothing!

But if you see the pattern of our earthly lives and what its meant, it appears this ‘Earth University’ was to train us on how to run our own planet some day. I know its far fetched, but I don’t think its impossible. And at the appointed time, the nations bring their glory to the new Jerusalem to worship The Almighty! What do you think?

Saved Through Evangelism?

Published: May 28, 2015 (Originally published: June 29, 2010)
Q

Our Bible study leader ends almost every lesson with the admonition that we should all be witnessing to everyone we come into contact with. He says on judgment day the Lord will ask who we told about Jesus and if we didn’t tell enough people He will say “Depart from Me for I never knew you.” This scares me to death. Do you believe that if we don’t witness to everyone we will be rejected by Jesus?

I am a Born Again Christian and believe in the pre-trib rapture. There is a popular TV preacher, who preaches that Revelation 11 is the Rapture. He says that we who believe pre-trib are believing a lie This is not true. Can you please explain what Revelation 11 means.

Limiting Grace?

Q

Re: Romans 5:15. It says that the Grace of Jesus Christ has abounded to many. I’m given to understand that people of the Calvinist view point to this verse to support their contention that God doesn’t extend His offer of Grace to everyone, only to the ones He has predestined to be saved…the “many”. There are lots of verses that say this is error, not the least of which is John 3:16. Please help me understand what Rom 5:15 is actually saying.

I was in a discussion with some people who think it is still in practice to anoint a person who is sick and maybe he will be healed. What do you say about the oil in James 5:14? I believe this is confusing to many today.

Bible Inerrancy

Published: May 26, 2015 (Originally published: May 27, 2015)
Q

I’ve been reading and thinking a lot about the concept of inerrancy in the Bible and what the fallout from either conclusion could potentially mean. i.e. “if there’s one error there might as well be 1,000” or “if its truly inspired by a God who cannot tell a lie then it must be 100% true”

I’m just wondering about what to make of certain things like Ahaziah’s age when he began to rule (22 according to 2 Kings 8:26 and 42 according to 2 Chronicles 22:2) Also the mention in my Bible’s commentary about the populations given in the book of Numbers were likely wrong given the populations of the world at that time. I believe the Word of God to be truth, but I know people who don’t and I would like to be able to point out where their mistake is. Can you help?

Spiritual Wickedness In High Places

Published: May 25, 2015 (Originally published: May 26, 2015)
Q

Every morning when I read my daily Scriptures … I always read Ephesians 6:10-20 to put on the armor of God before I start my day. I think it is a great reading for all to read to protect themselves with before starting the day.

My question is regarding Ephesians 6:12 where it says ” … against spiritual wickedness in high places.” I also have read versions where it states “heavenly places”.

The question is where is “spiritual wickedness” in “high” or “heavenly” places? May God forgive me but where would evil lurk in “high” or “heavenly places”?

Witnessing To Pagans

Published: May 25, 2015 (Originally published: May 26, 2015)
Q

Peace and grace to you in our Lord Jesus Christ. I have a question concerning witnessing to pagan followers. I have been talking with a few that point out that all religions, including Christianity, are actually a derivative of some former pagan belief. They point out that paganism has been around much longer then Christianity or Judaism for that matter. So, in their mind, it seems logical that when they hear a story or teaching in Christianity that is like one of their own from paganism, that it must have come from paganism.

What helps can I find that will give me a sufficient answer for why it appears that Christians borrow it’s teachings from pagan myths? I understand that Nimrod and the city of Babel is the birthplace of all paganism, but what can I show my pagan friends as evidence that this is true?

The Body Of Elijah

Published: May 25, 2015 (Originally published: May 26, 2015)
Q

I love the vivid word picture describing Elijah, the fiery chariots, and charioteers. And I believe he will return, stand, preach, be killed and resurrected in the streets of Jerusalem during the Great Tribulation period. And I also know bodies will rise from the grave to meet Jesus in the Rapture.

But in the mean time, where is Elijah’s earthly body? I wonder if the fire consumed his body for this time until he inhabits it again during the Tribulation? Or is the body he’ll inhabit in Jerusalem already glorified?

No Second Chance?

Published: May 25, 2015 (Originally published: March 2, 2015)
Q

A pastor I heard recently preached that after the rapture, those who had been given an opportunity to accept Jesus and had rejected Him and were thus left behind would not have an opportunity to accept Jesus post-rapture. He cited a verse in II Thes. where it talks of a great delusion being sent and the people believing a lie.

It would appear from The Revelation that those killed in the great tribulation come from every nation, tribe and tongue are before the throne (saints) and there are 144,000 Jews who are sealed with God’s seal, all of whom had to have accepted Jesus as Savior after the rapture. Therefore I question the accuracy of his belief. Can you shed any light?

Satan’s 7,000 Year Lease?

Published: May 25, 2015 (Originally published: December 6, 2008)
Q

I have heard and read many times that God gave Adam the earth on a ‘lease’ for only 7,000 years. For this reason, when Adam fell and forfeited the earth to Satan, Satan only has 7,000 years to have dominion on this earth. After that Jesus Christ arrives in His Second Advent to reclaim the earth, etc. Where is the express scripture that says that the earth is on a ‘lease’ of 7,000 years. If there is no express scripture, how can this be inferred?

All Bible Prophecy Fulfilled?

Published: May 24, 2015 (Originally published: May 25, 2015)
Q

I have a friend who used to have the same beliefs as I, but within the past few years has ended up being what he calls a Historical Realist, but to me he seems to be more of a Preterist. He believes ALL prophecies were fulfilled in 70AD.

I have been doing a lot of research to disprove his reasoning, but I want to make sure I have a strong impact. He believes Revelation was written before 70AD cause the temple was mentioned. I know it’s a temple of the future, not of the one of Biblical times. And Nero does have anti-Christ characteristics, but I don’t see where he fit full prophecy of the Antichrist & beast.

Do you have any strong scripture references to support against Jesus’ teaching at the Mt of Olives was not referring to 70AD? Also do you know where I can find solid proof Revelation was written in the mid 90s AD?

Thank you, your site is a blessing.

Living Water

Published: May 24, 2015 (Originally published: May 25, 2015)
Q

Thank you for your efforts to teach, reprove, correct, and train us through scripture. I’m studying the book of Leviticus on my own now, and I would appreciate some guidance in a few passages. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I’ve been studying with the following premises: Leprosy seems to be symbolic of sin. Blood has redeeming value. Oil represents the Holy Spirit, I think. The animal used for the sin offering is symbolic of Christ.

After reading various passages, such as Lev. 14:1-7 (the procedure to declare a person clean of the infection of leprosy), and I think somewhere in the NT, there was also a passage dealing with the testimony of water and blood. I’ve been noticing throughout the book of Leviticus, that water seems to take on special significance in many of the protocols.

What does water signify? When it is mentioned, many times, it is mentioned as “running water.”

The concept of an innocent’s blood covering over the sins of another…is the very basis of Jesus’ message. Though I know that blood is the requirement and basis of redemption in the offerings, but why does God require such a violent shedding of life and blood? Why should such burnt offerings be a “soothing aroma”?

I’m not doubting God in the least. He is God. Even if I don’t understand everything, it doesn’t change the fact that I want to know more about them.

The Harvest Of Rev. 14

Published: May 24, 2015 (Originally published: May 24, 2015)
Q

In Revelation 14 it talks about reaping, but it appears to be two separate things. Verses 14 through 16 seem to be Jesus harvesting. Verses 17 through 20 are God’s wrath poured out. Is this first part (14-20) the rapture maybe, since the second part speaks of God’s wrath and I know we are not appointed unto wrath. What is your understanding of these scriptures and the difference of the man (Jesus?)on the cloud reaping the harvest versus the angel gather grapes to be crushed under the wrath of God? Thank you for your help.

Can’t Make It To Church?

Published: May 23, 2015 (Originally published: May 24, 2015)

Is it true that a committed Christian can go to hell if he or she does not attend Church every Sunday? When I say “committed Christian” I mean someone who has accepted Jesus as their personal lord and savior and who also refrains from sinning. I was wondering about this because I know a lot of committed Christians who don’t go to church because they lead very busy lives.

Don’t Eat The Forbidden Fruit!

I have a question, that has been on my mind for quite some time. Since God knows all, he knew Adam and Eve would not stay away from the tree of knowledge and that they would eat from it even though God told them not to. So why did he put the tree there in the first place? I don’t mean to be disrespectful toward God or even question what he does, because I believe he knows exactly what he is doing. I just wonder about things like this.

Changed Quickly, Depart Slowly?

Published: May 22, 2015 (Originally published: May 23, 2015)
Q

1 Corinthians 15:52 states we will be changed in the twinkling of an eye. Growing up, the preachers I listened to all taught we would disappear this quickly. In studying this verse closely, it seems our bodies will transformed in an instant and we will put on immortality in the twinkling of an eye, but the verse doesn’t state we will be removed this fast. My question is this; Will our disappearance be as quick, or will those left behind visibly watch us depart?
