Should We say Anything?

Published: March 27, 2015 (Originally published: February 27, 2012)
Q

Some friends and I have been agonizing over taking a stand as it relates to a popular female teacher whose studies are promoted in our church. Our issue is not that we question this teacher’s love of the Lord Jesus Christ, or her sincere heart, but rather many aspects of her teachings. In our opinion she often takes Scriptures out of context as proof texts for the point she is making, and advocates practices that we think come from New Age religion . Should we just not go to the study and remain quiet, or should we state our concerns to the leadership?

The Holy Spirit As The Restrainer

Published: March 26, 2015 (Originally published: March 27, 2015)
Q

The Biblical translations that I’m aware of all capitalize pronouns referring to God in the New Testament no matter if the Father, Son, or Holy Spirit is in context, except for 2 Thes. 2:6-7. The restrainer, I do believe, is the Holy Spirit but why isn’t the pronoun “he” capitalized?

New Bodies For Unbelievers?

Published: March 26, 2015 (Originally published: March 27, 2015)
Q

I had a discussion today about the bodies of the wicked-dead. After reading Revelation 20, it wasn’t clear to me whether they receive bodies (some kind like our glorified ones?) or not, in which to spend eternity in the “lake of fire”. Perhaps I have missed other locations of Scripture that deals with this topic. In any event, thank you so much for your help.

Martyrs And Saints

Scripture tell us that man is appointed once to die and then judgment. The Bema seat is for the Bride and the great white throne is for all those whose names are not found in the Book of Life. When do the tribulation martyrs/ saints receive their judgment and also the old testament saints?

Old Testament Promises

Published: March 25, 2015 (Originally published: March 26, 2015)
Q

I cringe when I hear Christians claiming Old Testament promises like Jeremiah 29:11 and 2 Chron. 7:14 because it seems they were specifically for Israel often at a specific point in time. People want to claim Israel’s benefits, but not their judgments! Is it wrong to claim promises such as those listed above? How can we discern what was for Israel alone vs. what can apply to us today? Is it based on personal vs national promises? I’m confused.

A Bible Study by Jack Kelley

Is God In Everyone And Everything?

Several colleagues of mine are involved in new age mysticism and eastern religions. A common belief of theirs is that “god is in everyone and everything” and they often talk about “seeking oneness” with the universe. Could you please help point me to scriptures that address this directly?

Creationism And Evolution

Published: March 23, 2015 (Originally published: March 23, 2015)
Q

How does one reconcile the arguments of creationism vs. evolution? I hold fast to the belief that God created man, but, with overwhelming proof of the concept of evolving is there any proof outside faith that at some point God made man as he is today and in doing so broke from the predecessor “cave man” etc. Is there a blending of the two concepts that is acceptable to the Christian faith?

The Church Of What’s Happening Now

Published: March 22, 2015 (Originally published: March 20, 2012)
Q

My wife and I had been attending a country church for several years. At some point, the pastor started removing long-time members who didn’t agree with his idea of a “seeker-friendly” contemporary church from the board. Then he appointed board members who were new-comers, did away with traditional services, and caused many senior members to leave the church, including us.

Since then, we have been trying to find an evangelical church that isn’t either seeker-friendly or one of the very legalistic churches that remind me of the Judaizers that plagued the early church. I don’t want to behave like those mentioned in Hebrews 10:25, but in our area, I see apostasy in every church I’ve contacted. What to do?

What Is God’s Purpose?

Published: March 22, 2015 (Originally published: March 24, 2012)
Q

Recently I talked with my Mom about eschatology and looming prophetic events. When we discussed the final 7 dreadful years of judgment before Christ’s return she asked me a question I couldn’t answer properly. I said although Satan is in charge here God is restraining evil. But He’ll stop restraining it during the final 7 years. My Mom’s question is: why will God stop restraining evil at all ? I couldn’t really answer it. I heard that evil has to unfold fully and absolutely but I don’t know what God’s real purpose with it is. Could you please help me with this question?

The US And The 10 Toes Of Daniel 2

Q

I have a question about the statue in Daniel chapter 2. Could it be possible for the US to be the toes? We have European roots and our government has similarities to Rome. Our people are a mixture and the way things are heading, looks like soon we will no longer be united, as a people. It also states, “in the time of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, nor will it be left to another people.”

Is My Minister Friend Saved?

Published: March 22, 2015 (Originally published: March 22, 2015)
Q

Hello Jack, thanks again for your great work, may God bless you.

I have an old Friend who is a Minister for a Community Church, we were talking the other night and he really has different views on the Church and Israel, the rapture and so on…He claims to be born again. He believes that we are currently living in the Millennial Age, That the Church represents Israel, The Temple has already been rebuilt and destroyed, and on and on. I am a little worried for him. I love him, but I don’t want to argue with him. I am firm in my beliefs, which agree almost 100% with yours. How should I handle this, and is he actually saved?

Times Of The Gentiles And Fullness Of The Gentiles

Published: March 22, 2015 (Originally published: March 22, 2015)
Q

In Luke 21: 24 it mentions ‘the times of the Gentiles’. In Romans 11:25, it mentions ‘the fullness of the Gentiles’. But, according to Revelation 7:9 and 7:14, there will be Gentiles saved during the great tribulation. I have difficulty to explain Romans 11:25 together with Revelation 7:9,14. Is the ‘times of the Gentiles’ and the ‘fullness of the Gentiles’ pointing to the same time?

Does The Holy Spirit Come And Go?

Published: March 22, 2015 (Originally published: September 16, 2008)
Q

I have a question regarding the Holy Spirit. I believe as you do that when we became saved God sealed the Holy Spirit within us. However, this confuses me at times. My question is: If the Holy Spirit is God and God can have no part in sinning, how can the Holy Spirit stay in us while we are sinning? Does the Holy Spirit leave us while we are sinning then return when we repent? If so how can the Holy Spirit be sealed in me if it leaves me while I am sinning?

I have come across a growing concern by many, that martial law is on the horizon. Apparently, FEMA has drawn up an extensive list of resistors and dissidents. It is said the resistors are gun owners, and the dissidents are Christians. If that is possible, then what’s to become of us? I thought we weren’t appointed unto God’s wrath. Your thoughts, please?
