The Times Of The Gentiles
Published: March 12, 2015 (Originally published: March 13, 2015)Why do you and many others refer to the beginning of the Times of the Gentiles as starting with Nebuchadnezzar instead of earlier when the Assyrians conquered northern Israel? Why isn’t that part of the reigning and trampling of Gentiles?
Idols In Their Bedrooms
Published: March 12, 2015 (Originally published: March 13, 2015)Please advise me on the following: my elderly mother and unmarried sister are moving in with me and my husband. They are both practicing Catholics and have idols in their bedrooms. My husband and I are both believers and we have been praying for their salvation. My husband says they should not bring their idols with them but I do not want to offend them and risk being self-righteous because I know that only the Lord knows their hearts. What is the best approach to them?
Celebrating The Feasts
Published: March 12, 2015 (Originally published: March 12, 2015)The leader of a Bible study I attend group is a Messianic Jew. He said the early church for the first 300 years celebrated the feasts of Israel. I have been around a few Messianic Jews and know that they do continue to celebrate the feasts. My question is – when Paul penned the Galatian Epistle and talked about the keeping of the Mosaic Law vs. Faith in Christ – was he also including the feasts?
I strongly feel from scripture that there really should not be any distinction between Jew and Gentile because Ephesians and other Epistles make it very clear we are one in Christ and should be in Christ. While I certainly believe Hebraic teaching and understanding the old testament is vital to our walk with God – are we going back under the law in observing the feasts of Israel as Christians?
Pay The Tithe Or Help the Family?
Published: March 12, 2015 (Originally published: March 12, 2015)Thank you so much for you for helping us to understand the bible better. Something that is worrying me is about tithes. Is it a sin if your immediately family is financially not able to cope and you help them instead of giving your tithes?
Tribulation And Wrath. Follow Up
Published: March 11, 2015 (Originally published: March 10, 2015)I find it interesting that everyone who believes in a pre-trib rapture never addresses Rev. 7:14. Just how do you have Christians coming into heaven out of the great tribulation if all Christians are raptured before the tribulation?
Why Don’t You Name Them?
Published: March 10, 2015 (Originally published: March 11, 2015)I read your recent article entitled, “What Does the Bible Say? Tribulation and Wrath“. In your article, and many others I have read, you mention an author, a book, or a quote that is questionable or in complete scriptural error. The name of the author or the book is always anonymous. After reading your work for an extended period of time, I have little or no doubt that you and I are on the same page in regard to what the scripture says and means. How the very word of God is handled is certainly of infinite value to us all. It would be wonderful to know who these other authors are so one can be diligent and discerning. Why don’t you name them?
Praying for Our Enemies. Follow up
Published: March 10, 2015 (Originally published: March 11, 2015)Thank you for the lesson on “Praying for our enemies“, but I have a question: How do you pray for your enemies when you are at war with them? I am speaking specifically of Islamists. I know we should pray that they see the peace of God and come to His grace, but I fear that we will be at war, literally, with them, especially here in the U.S., in the foreseeable future.
More Tribulation and Wrath
Published: March 10, 2015 (Originally published: March 10, 2015)You failed to use Matt. 24:31 in your article which is common among pre-trib believers. You will stand in front of God and answer for why you did not teach the full gospel of the tribulation and that the rapture happens just after the tribulation of those days. You also fail to realize 1 Thes. 5:9 does not mean the rapture because God has the power to protect Christians from his wrath on the earth just as he protected the Jews from Egypt. Nowhere in the Word can you point out that the Word specifically states that the rapture is before the tribulation.
How Frequent And How Intense?
Published: March 10, 2015 (Originally published: March 28, 2012)As we watch worldwide earthquakes not only get stronger but more frequent all the time, do you think its plausible that we have to wait til we frequently see 8.0’s and 9.0’s as common place before we can hope that the Rapture is imminent? I watch the USGS site every day, and have definitely noticed more 6’s and 7’s occurring more frequently, but just wonder if we shouldn’t hope for the Rapture til we are constantly seeing 8’s, 9’s and even 10’s. What are your thoughts?
A Confusing Passage?
Published: March 10, 2015 (Originally published: March 10, 2015)A lady friend tells me she couldn’t marry me unless her current husband becomes unfaithful leading to a divorce. She quotes 1 Cor. 7 and says she would have to remain single if she divorces because of extreme unhappiness. I’ve read the passage several times and, like most of the Bible’s verses, I am confused. What is the best way for me to gain understanding of 1 Cor. 7? By the way, this is hypothetical, part of a Bible study. I’m not romantically involved with her.
What About Cursing?
Published: March 9, 2015 (Originally published: March 6, 2011)I have been thinking about this lately. What about cursing? I know a few people who genuinely have a relationship with Christ but use some curse words now and again. I find this offensive and generally say something but what does the Bible say about this? I would like to give them some direction as to what our Father says so they will think twice about what comes out of their mouth.
What Does The Bible Say? Tribulation And Wrath
Published: March 8, 2015 (Originally published: March 7, 2015)A Bible Study by Jack Kelley
Recently I was reading a new book on Revelation by an author who subscribes to the pre-wrath rapture position. I don’t recommend this or any other mid-trib, pre-wrath, or post-trib book. I only read them myself because my belief in the pre-trib position is solid enough to not be shaken,
How Should A New Believer Feel?
Published: March 7, 2015 (Originally published: March 8, 2015)I am a brand new believer and my faith is very weak, very small. Is there anything in scripture that says you should feel differently after you’ve accepted salvation than you did before? I’m worried because I’m not sure if I’m really saved or not. My mother, the person most responsible for helping me get saved, assures me I only need faith “as small as a mustard seed.” But, I still have doubts as to whether I’m really saved because I don’t feel any different. Can you help?
Application Of Genesis 4:25?
Published: March 7, 2015 (Originally published: March 8, 2015)“And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew…” (Genesis 4:25) What is the application for today? Is Abel’s death and replacement by Seth a foreshadow of the Gentile Church replacing Israel?
Ezekiel, History Or Prophecy?
Published: March 7, 2015 (Originally published: March 8, 2015)Thank you, as always, for your help. My question is about the book of Ezekiel. I’m well aware of the prophetic implications of chapters 38 and 39 as well as the Millennial Kingdom mentioned at the end of the book, but my question pertains to Ezekiel 12:27-28. I’m specifically wondering about the part of verse 28 that says, “None of My words will be delayed any longer. Whatever word I speak will be performed”. If the entire book of Ezekiel was meant to be fulfilled in the generation of Ezekiel himself, what fulfillment was there for 38-39, the temple and the kingdom? Was there a defined break in the book that I’m missing that showed that these prophecies are strictly for future times and not part of what God was mentioning in verse 28?
Original Sin Or Sin Nature?
Published: March 7, 2015 (Originally published: March 7, 2015)I must ask you about Original sin and our “sin Nature”. Are these the same thing? I personally do not believe anyone is born with a sin nature but that we are born innocent. I believe in an age of accountability which seems to be a truth hidden well in the scriptures, if not well hidden, very little is spoken of it. The “Sin Nature” is something I just do not understand. Are we born sinful? Do we bring sin into the world or are we born into a sinful world?
The Rapture And The 2nd Coming
Published: March 7, 2015 (Originally published: March 7, 2015)In the last year I have been studying the “Hebrew roots” of my Christianity and am now in AWE more profoundly than ever – of God’s patterns I’m discovering. Partly in thanks to your website I understand in a more straightforward way, the prophetic significance of the Spring Holy Days (Passover/Unleavened Bread/First Fruits) and the first coming of our Jesus the Christ. That – and also the likelihood of Jesus’ birth being sometime during Sukkot and his conception being sometime during Hanukkah! Simply Amazing!
My question is – given how God’s ordained Holy Days are directly related Jesus, and how it is likely that the Autumn Holy Days also relate to His second-coming, wouldn’t the Rapture likely occur during one of these God-ordained Holy Festivals in autumn? That still wouldn’t be pin-pointing a day or an hour if it occurred “some time” within, say, an 8 day festival – right?
Joshua Or Jesus?
Published: March 7, 2015 (Originally published: March 7, 2015)I am doing your audio study on Hebrews and I have a question, I have a NIV that I have studied for many years, I also have a KJV that I have been studying, and tonight during the audio study I noticed that in Hebrews chapter 4 verse 8. in the KJV it has Jesus, and in the NIV it has Joshua. can you tell me why they are different?
Salvation And Evolution
Published: March 6, 2015 (Originally published: March 4, 2009)While attending a Christianity 101 course at my church I was told that one can be a Christian and believe in evolution. Red flags go up on that for me, can you give me your opinion on that issue?
Treasure In Heaven
Published: March 6, 2015 (Originally published: March 6, 2015)I love your web site and visit regularly. Any idea what we would use treasure in heaven for? I know we can store it up, but I wonder why we would need it.
Doubting My Salvation
Published: March 6, 2015 (Originally published: March 6, 2015)I asked Christ to come into my life over 33 years ago and for the first 30 years I never doubted that I was His. Now that it appears we may be nearing the time of the end, I’ve been fearful that I’m not saved for some reason. I’ve always been a believer in once saved, always saved, so why am I having these fears and doubts? Is it the enemy messing with me or could it be that I’ve not spent regular time with the Lord in recent years or what? I know we can’t rely on feelings, but it’s very unsettling to doubt my salvation after so many years of feeling totally secure.
How Could He Do That?
Published: March 5, 2015 (Originally published: March 6, 2015)It seems that my wife can not believe that a loving God who gave his only Son, to pay for the sins of man, could condone the act described in Rev.21:8-9. She rejects “fire and brimstone” threats and wonders whether there is a deeper meaning to all this.
Submissive Wife, Loving Husband
Published: March 5, 2015 (Originally published: May 1, 2007)I have observed that in many sermons and conferences concerning the roles of husbands and wives, Col.3:18 gets about 4 seconds and 3:19 gets expounded upon at length, with a thunderous “congregation clap” breaking out when the speaker finally concludes that the breakdown of Christian marriages would cease if only men would start 3:19ing it (or something like that).
I see the unwillingness of women to submit to their husbands as the number 1 cause of divorce. A person only has to watch TV for a few minutes to see that men are being portrayed as football watching idiots who need to be constantly corrected by their wives. I dare say that the church is complicit in this propaganda campaign.
I would like to hear from you about this – before I pick up a copy of that new book: “the woman driven church”
Why Doesn’t He Save Everyone? Follow Up
Published: March 5, 2015 (Originally published: July 17, 2012)Re: “Why doesn’t God save everyone.” I agree with your answer up to a point; but it avoids the real question. (In my mind; at least.) Here it is: God; in His foreknowledge; knew who would open their hearts to Him. However; He also knew who would not be receptive to Him. He knows who will be eternally lost. Why create a person who will suffer eternally? Would it not be better (and…I say this with reverence) be more loving not to create those people?
Help Me Save My Marriage
Published: March 5, 2015 (Originally published: March 5, 2015)My wife and I have been married for 8+ years and in the last 2 months she became distant. 3 weeks ago she told me she had been speaking to someone else on the internet and that she had very strong feeling for him. She has meet up with him once that I know of. She told me she needed some space but it has escalated to the point where anything I say to her she takes as a personal attack on her she thinks I am trying to control her every move and that I am nothing but a burden to her. Please help I am lost. And I am afraid of losing the love of my life.
