Winning Crowns

Published: April 16, 2021 (Originally published: December 19, 2012)
Q

I have a question about the Bema Seat Judgment, when we are judged for our works during our lifetime. I’ve listened to a evangelist who states when we get to this judgment Jesus will ask each one of us what work we did for Him in our lifetime, and some of us will feel remorse in that we didn’t do anything to earn a crown. He then went on to say how badly we will feel to have nothing to give back to the Lord when many others are casting their crowns at the Lord’s feet. I’ve been quite upset since hearing this man talk. Is this really how it will be?

Judging Believers? How Can This Be?

Published: July 28, 2014 (Originally published: July 28, 2014)
Q

I have been taught that when we confess our sins and ask forgiveness of God, that through His sacrifice on Calvary’s Cross, our sins are washed away, and you accept Him as your own personal Savior you are His forever. We have been doing a Bible study on Revelation we’ve learned that when Christ comes back he will open the book of life and judge us. If, as it says in His Word, His blood cleansed me why will I be judged? This question bothers me and I would appreciate your input.

Rewards At The Bema Judgment

Q

Hi, I love your website. My question is on what works are our Rewards at the Bema Seat based upon? Is it our obedience to the Lord’s commandments on a day to day basis, struggling to be obedient in times of Temptation, etc. Or are they something different, like seeing a starving person on the street, and getting them a sandwich to eat, or giving someone some clothes that are in need? Or is it a combination of both?

Punishment Day?

Published: December 6, 2015 (Originally published: December 12, 2015)
Q

I was reading an answer you gave to the question: Am I forgiven enough? Your reply was that all our sins were forgiven the moment we were born again. This raises another question that’s been bothering me. If, like you say that all our sins were forgiven the moment we were born again, then, why do I see so much written about the judgment day? I’ve been told we will be brought before our Lord and be held accountable for everything we did, or didn’t do, said or didn’t say: Punishment Day?

Extra Rewards And Extra Punishment

Published: June 5, 2016 (Originally published: June 8, 2016)
Q

It is clear that acceptance of Jesus as our Savior is the only prerequisite for eternal salvation. All believers are ‘equally saved’ and there is no degree of salvation. Is it not true however, that there are rewards (crowns) in heaven based on works, with the right motivation of serving Christ and giving Him the glory of course? Could it be then, that there could also be less or more severe punishments in eternal damnation?

Aren’t We Really Judged At Death?

Published: November 26, 2009 (Originally published: November 25, 2009)
Q

Thank you for your teaching. I have benefited most from your sharing. May I follow-up on the topic of ‘Hades and Hell’ ? If there are 2 places within Hades or Sheol where the dead before the Cross went , does it mean that judgment had occurred for them, that some had gone to the Paradise (like Lazarus in Luke 23:43); while others to ‘Torments’?

How Can They Ignore Prophecy?

Published: September 15, 2022 (Originally published: September 2, 2013)
Q

I have 3 questions regard the Pastors / teachers who willfully ignore, and even reject Bible prophecy with a spirit of contempt. 1) On what authority do these pastors assume they only have to teach the scriptures they “approve of”? 2) What does the Bible indicate will happen to the pastors / teachers who do this? 3) Is Second Timothy 3:16 suggestive, or are we to take it literally? Thanks for your valuable insight as always!

Redeeming The Time

Published: September 28, 2023 (Originally published: September 26, 2012)
Q

Not too long ago I sat under some teaching about the Bema Seat judgment. The teacher said that if we weren’t “redeeming the time” we won’t lose our salvation, but we would not receive any rewards. He said that according to Hebrews 10:31, it was a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God and that is exactly what we will be doing if we aren’t redeeming the time. He also said that the Lord won’t wipe every tear from our eyes until after the 1,000 year reign of Christ. So until then we will feel sorrow for lost loved ones and friends we fell short on preaching the gospel to. That is our punishment for not redeeming the time like we should have. Is this teaching true?

Giving Account For Ourselves

Published: February 3, 2021 (Originally published: March 12, 2015)
Q

Re: “Cheap Grace” A question arose regarding giving an account for ourselves. It’s mentioned more than once in Scripture (Jesus and Paul making such statements – sorry don’t have the verses to back them up this time), and has caused a few discussions I’ve had with others. Will you please help us on this issue, as we know our sins were paid for by Jesus’ sacrifice for us on Calvary?

Will We Have To Give Account For Every Sin?

Published: February 1, 2021 (Originally published: July 18, 2010)
Q

I read something today that upset me and I would like your opinion on it. I know that you have mentioned that we will all stand before the Bema Seat of Christ for rewards but this is what I read…

Everything I ever did will be analyzed and scrutinized openly by the Lord Jesus Christ. Every good thing. . . and every bad thing. I’ll be called on to give account of every word, every deed, every thought.

Now even as a Christian I ‘try’ to live as good as I can because I love the Lord but I have done things that I’m not proud of but I always ask for forgiveness and I asked the Lord to help me with my attitude about people and situations but I fail at times.

Question…Are not all my sins covered by the blood and if not why not? There is a chorus that says…When He (God) looks at me He sees not what I used to be but He sees Jesus.

It sounds like for most believers, the Judgment Seat of Christ will be an excruciating experience.
