Joining A Local Congregation

Q. I am joining the church I have been attending by profession of faith (received Christ as my personal Lord and Savior) but my husband refuses to join saying he does not believe in some of the doctrines of this church, such as the rapture.  He believes that upon death, we are present with the Lord and we do not have to wait for the graves to open to be in His presence. It is kind of confusing to me.  He also says the church celebrates Easter and not the Passover.  On this account, I see his point but also know the Church does not celebrate the pagan rituals but rather celebrates Christ’s victory over death.

Is Salvation Our Choice Or God’s?

Q. How can we reconcile the idea that people are chosen by God and have no ability to choose God with the idea of eternal punishment for not choosing God?  Put another way, how can unbelievers be punished for something they are incapable of believing?   Wouldn’t this be like destroying a robot designed to make cars because it has failed to bake you some cookies?

Was His Body Broken?

Q. Thank you for your ministry.  I have a question about the communion service.  Some translations say, “This is my body, which is broken for you.”  Others say, “is for you”, “betrayed for you”, and “given for you”.  Psalm 34:20 and John 19:36 say, “Not one of His bones shall be broken.”  How can it be correct to say His body was broken?

All Three Agree, Follow Up

Q. I have to respectfully disagree with something you said in your “All Three Agree” response.  You said: “No one can come to the Son unless the Father draws Him, but the Father only draws those who have chosen to come.”.  This makes God’s election subject to, and dependent on our foreknown choice, and thus introduces merit on our part, in regards to our salvation.  This does not agree with the teaching of Scripture on the Sovereignty of God, and the depravity of man. Did God Change The Rules?

Q. Is God the same yesterday, today, and forever?  Can He make different rules for different folks in time concerning their salvation?  Can He change the rules for salvation?  What happens to one that looses ones faith today verses yesterday or tomorrow?  What happened to Saul? Is the whole council of God for different times in History, or is it for all ages?  Read Post »

What Does Ordination Mean?

Q. How is a pastor ordained and who does it?  Is it a must or just a man made step intended to make reality of what the person has decided in dedicating his life to Christ.  Is it in the Bible ? Read Post »

Son Of God

Q. Since Jesus is God, why does God refer to Him as His Son? Even though I believe that They are one, I’ve never really understood the fact that They are one, yet separate, that Jesus was born as a man but also existed WITH the Father before the creation of the earth. I just wish that it would click in my mind so that I could truly understand. I’m afraid that if a nonbeliever were to ask me about these things, I wouldn’t really know how to answer them. How can I try to convince someone of something that I myself don’t really understand? I pray that God will clarify this for me through your answer.

The Original Church

Q. Is the Roman Catholic Church, the one and original church established by Jesus himself? the one being referred in Matthew 16:18, “I also tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against her.”

Take The Best And Leave The Rest?

Q. My Question: Is there any good in the emerging church or should involvement in a church which is leaning that way be avoided? My Pastor did some research into Emerging Church and thinks we could take some things from the conversation and grow as a church, ignoring all the more questionable practices. Having watched the growth of this movement for years I am very concerned about some of the ideas coming out of it. Could it be that the Lord has placed me in leadership (deacon) in my church so I can act as watchman and stand interceding before God for my Pastor & our congregation.

Why Don’t More Pastors Teach Prophecy?

Q. Why do so many people shy away from teaching or even talking about the end of the age?  I have a pastor that I truly love and have great respect. He has brought me up in the Word and has changed my life. I have been in his congregation for 25 years and my wife even longer and we don’t plan on leaving anytime soon. He is a wonderful full gospel teacher yet he really shies away from anything that pertains to end time prophecy. I have tried to speak to him about it, but he avoids my questions.
