Paul’s Account Of Abraham

Thanks so much for your ministry and the time and energy you devote to it.  I have a question about the faith of Abraham.

Romans 4:10-20 says that Abraham did not waver in his faith, in regards to the Promise. I believe that this is true. Clearly, he believed in the promise of a son in order to continue to do the things that are necessary for a couple to have children. Doing this even unto very old age.

What I’m trying to understand better  is why Abraham took Hagar when she was offered.

The Great Pause, More Follow Up

Q. Are you saying that after the Rapture, one must believe in Jesus ‘and’ subscribe to the Law? The plan obviously shifts to Israel but does this mean that no Gentiles have a chance after the Rapture? What is the purpose of the sacrifices in the Temple then? Is it only for the Jew? Which blood atonement will God recognize, that of the animals for the last 7 years or that of His Son? Will there be no grace after the Rapture?

Purifying The Church By Fire?

Q. I appreciate your site so much. I have a friend who keeps telling me Christians are going to go through The Great Tribulation, because it is the “cleansing fire” we must go through to “purify” for our redemption when Christ comes back, he says, according to Matt 24:29 and 1Thess 4:17 I have been a Pre-Trib Rapture believer since my conversion many years ago. Can you help me here? Thank you so very much.

Damascus’ Date With Destruction

Q. Is there a specific Agricultural season mentioned as to the timing of the Destruction of Damascus? “It shall be as when the harvester gathers the grain.” Is that the Bible’s way of making a General statement about Harvesting or can we take that as Literally WHEN the wheat is actually harvested in Israel?

Psalm 114

When Israel came out of Egypt, the house of Jacob from a people of foreign tongue, Judah became God’s sanctuary, Israel his dominion. The sea looked and fled, the Jordan turned back; the mountains skipped like rams, the hills like lambs. Why was it, O sea, that you fled, O Jordan, that you turned back, you mountains, that you skipped like rams, you hills, like lambs? Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob, who turned the rock into a pool, the hard rock into springs of water.

Seven Men Named Jesus

Commentary by Jack Kelley

A recent poll claimed that about half of all professing Christians don’t believe that Jesus is God, or that the Holy Spirit and Satan even exist.  Smaller but still significant percentages don’t believe that Jesus lived a sin free life or that He is the only way to salvation.  This has prompted questions about whether this means they aren’t really saved.  I remembered an article on this subject that I wrote a number of years ago and in response to these questions I have updated and expanded it.  I believe it will explain what you have to believe about Jesus to be saved.  Let’s read it.

Psalm 112

Praise the LORD. Blessed is the man who fears the LORD, who finds great delight in his commands. His children will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed. Wealth and riches are in his house, and his righteousness endures forever.

The Adulterous Wife And The Virgin Bride

Q. Thanks for the opportunity to ask you this question.  I was raised a Baptist, and after age 30 I changed to Assembly of God.

I know a Bible teacher there who holds a meeting once a week and I am very concerned about this doctrine he teaches.   He says that God has a wife, and that wife is the old testament Jews. Next, he says that Christ has a separate Bride.

I have never heard this before and I am sure it is wrong.  This particular “doctrine” would change the whole bible!!  Can this teacher actually be a Christian?  Should I attend his meetings anymore?  Read Post »

Psalm 109

O God, whom I praise, do not remain silent, for wicked and deceitful men have opened their mouths against me; they have spoken against me with lying tongues. With words of hatred they surround me; they attack me without cause. In return for my friendship they accuse me, but I am a man of prayer. They repay me evil for good, and hatred for my friendship.

How Many Wives Are There?

Q. In your Isaiah study, you quoted:

“Do not be afraid; you will not suffer shame. Do not fear disgrace; you will not be humiliated. You will forget the shame of your youth and remember no more the reproach of your widowhood. For your Maker is your husband— the LORD Almighty is his name—the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; he is called the God of all the earth. The LORD will call you back as if you were a wife deserted and distressed in spirit— a wife who married young, only to be rejected,” says your God. (Isaiah 54:4-6)

I thought only the Church was the Bride of Christ.  Does this also apply to Israel?
