A Kingdom Or A Family Of Kings?

Last week’s Feature Article by Jack Kelley

After Jesus and his disciples arrived in Capernaum, the collectors of the two-drachma tax came to Peter and asked, “Doesn’t your teacher pay the temple tax?”

“Yes, he does,” he replied.

When Peter came into the house, Jesus was the first to speak. “What do you think, Simon?” he asked. “From whom do the kings of the earth collect duty and taxes—from their own sons or from others?”

“From others,” Peter answered.

“Then the sons are exempt,” Jesus said to him. “But so that we may not offend them, go to the lake and throw out your line. Take the first fish you catch; open its mouth and you will find a four-drachma coin. Take it and give it to them for my tax and yours.” (Matt. 17:24-27)

Is Only God Immortal?

Q. I recently read that the idea of eternal punishment came about  “because of a preconceived, unbiblical notion that the soul is immortal (see 1 Tim. 6:15-16).  We have read eternal torment into the Scriptures when it was never intended for mankind.  Hell was created for Satan and his Angels, not for Mankind and it is Satan and his demonic hordes who will be consigned to Hell and its torments eternally.”   Do you believe 1 Tim. 6:15-16 actually means mans soul is not immortal and that it could be destroyed after serving a period of time in Hell?

Q. I read your site everyday and enjoy it a lot. My question is, my first child was a boy and he was still born. When I go home to be with Jesus, will he still be a baby or do babies age in heaven? I’ve ask many pastors and none have ever had a answer. Thanks for your help.

Aren’t We Really Judged At Death?

Q. Thank you for your teaching.  I have benefited most from your sharing. May I follow-up on the topic of ‘Hades and Hell’ ?   If there are 2 places within Hades or Sheol where the dead before the Cross went , does it mean that judgment had occured for them,  that some had gone to the Paradise (like Lazarus in Luke 23:43); while others to ‘Torments’?

Will We Remember?

Q. Is there any scripture pro or con indicating whether or not those that have died in Christ and gone to heaven still remember the lives and relationships they left back on earth? I’ve been told by several people that I respect that they don’t because that might cause them to worry or suffer grief. And although that makes sense to me they can’t give me any scripture to back this up either way. Others have said that they do remember and bring up the story of Lazarus and the rich man, but is that all there is in scripture about this subject. I am wondering what your opinion on this might be.

Will All My Questions Be Answered?

Q. I have years and years worth of questions written in my prayer journal that I want to ask someone, as soon as I get to heaven!  So, will I have to ask or will we be instantly infused with all knowledge upon arrival? I have a million of them! Will I even care once I get to heaven?

After We Die

Q.  I have been reading a book about the end times.  The author of this book is very well known and has written several books on end-times  and prophecy. He states in his book that “we will be looking down from heaven and will watch the whole Tribulation play out”. (we will have ring side seats) I have looked everywhere in the bible and can not find this.

What Happens If I Get Married Again?

Q. I have read several of your articles about life in Heaven after our earthly death and still have a question that I hope you can help me with.  I was married 44 years before my wife went to be with the Lord.  After several years I was reacquainted with an old high school sweetheart and we are thinking about getting married.  The question that has been bothering me is how all this will work when we are all in Heaven.  Thank you for all the work you put into your website as it has helped me tremendously.

Sinning In Heaven?

Q. I am trying to understand something.   Will we have the desire to sin in heaven?  I understand that our sin nature will finally be gone and the tempter Satan will be dealt with but won’t we still have emotions and desires?  Some of the angels sinned in heaven. I assume they had no sin nature to begin with. Wasn’t Satan also created without a sin nature? Is there anything in the Bible that gives us assurance that “sin” will be finally gone in the end or is that unknown? If the possibility is not gone then does that mean Jesus remains our intercessor for eternity?
