How Could He Not Know?

Q. It is difficult for me to understand how Jesus, in heaven prior to coming to Earth as a babe, being God, the second person of the Trinity, did not know about end time events prior to His coming. I have always believed that Jesus (God) was/is All Knowing, so why or how is it that He had to be told by the Father? This really has be confused and somewhat unhinged. He created the Earth and all but had no knowledge of end times?  Before coming to Earth as a babe, was he not of “man form” in Heaven? Thank you for your help.

Gaderenes, Gergesenes, Or Gerasenes?

Q. How do you counter a claim that the Bible contains error because of the story of the demon-possessed man and the herd of pigs?  If some manuscripts say Gadarenes, some say Gergesenes, and some say Gerasenes, then how do you explain the discrepancy to someone looking for error, especially when the story appears in three of the gospel accounts?

Understanding Luke 21:36

Q. Re: Luke 21:36.  Please tell me what this verse means  “Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man.”
Again and again I see this verse associated with the Rapture but then that would imply if I don’t live a godly life I could be passed by, right?   Or is this verse associated with the second coming?  I do know I feel a great deal of stress inside every time I read it as I become afraid that I won’t be acceptable when the Lord comes for His Church.

Are Women Saved Through Childbirth?

Q. My question has to do with 1 Timothy 2:8-15 and in particular verse 15. As I was reading this morning, I read my wife this passage and she looked a me in amazement and with a resounding “what do you mean saved through childbearing?”.  Now I know we are all saved by first believing in Jesus by grace through faith and nothing else.  So does this verse have another meaning to being saved?

When Was The Lord Born?

Q. The different gospels don’t appear to agree on the birth of Jesus. I’m not talking about if it was in the fall or the winter. What I’m talking about was when? In the gospels you can read that it was during the rein of Herod in another during the rein of Augustus. I’ve had atheists bring this up to me as they tell me all about the contradictions in the bible. Several months ago I did see something on television that cleared this up. I believe they were saying that it had been discovered that Herod was actually in power twice or that Augustus’s rein was actually on a different date. It’s been a while and I’m sorry but I don’t remember all the facts. Now it’s come up again with a friend and I can’t find the answer anywhere. Can you shed any light on this?

Clayifying Hebrews 9

Q. What a wonderful blessing your site it. It provides such great resources…we use your input weekly in Sunday School.

The author refers to the first covenant in Hebrews 9:1. I assume this covenant refers to the law and how to worship that was passed down to Moses from God. This confuses me as there existed covenants prior to this one, for instance the covenant between God and Abram, where God along with Christ walked through the blood path.  Why do you think the author stated “first covenant” in this chapter?

Both Holy And Righteous?

Q. When I read Rev. 22:11 I understand what the Lord means
when He speaks of the unrighteous,  but what is the difference between
the righteous and the holy?   The Lord imparted His Righteouness to
me when  I  believed  and received his holy sacrifice for my sins.  Since
I am then robed in  the   righteousness of my Lord Jesus Christ, am I  not
also Holy?

Were Joseph And Mary Married?

Q. I home school and each year our home school co-op puts on a Christmas play. The play this year has a theme about the real meaning of Christmas. It’s done in a modern stance with the children playing reporters and such. It has a part about Jesus’ birth.  The play director lists that Joseph and Mary were engaged when they went to the Inn.  I have always thought that Mary and Joseph were married when Jesus was born as Joseph calls Mary his wife in Matthew 1:24.  But one of the mothers insists that they were still engaged because under the Jewish traditions a couple was not considered married until after the union was consummated.  Which is right?

Are We To Know The Times And Seasons?

Q.  I’m still an avid reader of your site. I’ve also noticed many other sites I visit quote you or are linked to you. Do you ever correspond with these people or do they just pick up on your teaching as we have? Do you have any control over this?  These are not important questions but I was just curious.

In relationship to today’s Q &A- You referenced the fact that both Paul and the Lord said we should be aware of the season regarding His return. How do we reconcile that with Luke’s statement in Acts 1:7 that seems contradictory? Thanks again for your answers. God bless you and your family as you seek to serve Him in these last days.

A Question on Matt. 24:34

Q. My question is about Matt 24:34, many people use the term generation to mean seventy years from the formation of the country of Israel in 1948 to the second coming.  When Jesus spoke to the disciples wasn’t he using the Jewish year of 360 days?  If you use the 360 day format then 70 years is 25,200 days for a 70 year period.  Seventy years using our 365 1/4 day year would be 25,567.5 days or 367.5 more days for the same 70 year period or 2018.    Using our calendar that would would work out to be 69 years or about one year less and make His second coming in 2017.  Seven years earlier for the rapture would be 2010.  How do you see it?
