Rightly Dividing The Word Of Truth

A Bible Study by Jack Kelley

“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” (2 Tim. 2:15 KJV)

The purpose of this study is to show that the above verse from the King James translation of  2 Tim. 2:15 has been given a meaning Paul didn’t originally intend.  If you’ve heard the phrase “rightly dividing” being tossed around lately, you probably know what I mean.  If not, reading this will help you to be better prepared when you do.

God’s Argument Against Evolution

A Bible Study by Jack Kelley

(Note:  Following up on the recent evolution/ creation debate, here’s something you might not have considered.)

My wife has a teacup poodle.  We bought her as a puppy almost 13 years ago.  She wasn’t just a pound puppy but a pure bred, papers and all. Expensive, too.  Breeders make a big issue about how they control the process to emphasize the desirable traits of the breed.

What Does the Bible Say? Introduction, It’s About Sin.

This entry is part 1 of 5 in the series What Does The Bible say?

A Bible Study by Jack Kelley

I’ve been asked to write an introduction to this series of studies on “What Does The Bible Say” to explain why people need to be saved in the first place. I’ve been told this would be a good evangelism tool for use with those who may not understand this critical requirement, such as curious unbelievers or children who have become intellectually mature enough to comprehend it and are now accountable for their lives.

What Does The Bible Say? Part 3, Our Security In Christ

This entry is part 3 of 5 in the series What Does The Bible say?

A Bible Study by Jack Kelley

In this series we’re taking a look at the most important issues relating to our relationship with our Creator.  In each case we begin from the perspective that the Bible is the inspired Word of God, and as such cannot be self-contradictory.  So if we think we see a contradiction, the problem is with our understanding, not God’s Word.  Our topic in this study is the durability of our salvation.  What does the Bible say about our security in Christ?  Is it conditional based on our post salvation behavior, or is it guaranteed from the beginning.  And could we give it back even if we wanted to?

What Does The Bible Say? Part 2, Salvation

This entry is part 2 of 5 in the series What Does The Bible say?

A Bible Study by Jack Kelley

I appeal to you brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another so that there may be no divisions among you and that you may be perfectly united in mind and in thought (1 Cor. 1:10).

For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear (2 Tim 4:3).

Why Should I Care?

A Feature Article by Jack Kelley

“Can you explain what pre-tribulation, pre-millennial, OSAS is and why I should care? I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God – He is my Lord and Savior – the only way to salvation (John 14:6).”

On our facebook page we define gracethrufaith.com as a pre-tribulation, pre-millennial, OSAS believing, literal reading Bible study website. We included this summary of our beliefs to let people know what we teach so they would know what to expect when they come to our page.

Recently, someone sent me the above message and although I’ve received comments like it before, for some reason this one struck me because it represents the attitude of a great many born again Christians. Largely because of the way the Church approaches Christian education, they think getting saved is all that matters.

Something Old, Something New

A Bible Study by Jack Kelley

“Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me; with burnt offerings and sin offerings you were not pleased. Then I said, ‘Here I am—it is written about me in the scroll— I have come to do your will, O God.’” (Psalm 40:6-8, from the Septuagint translation. Attributed to Jesus in Hebrews 10:5-7).

Wisdom Of The Ages

Commentary by Jack Kelley

Recently, I was reminded of a video I had watched some years ago on the life of Abraham. First shown on one of the cable networks, it was surprisingly faithful to the Bible’s account of Abraham’s life.

Jude, Gateway To Revelation … Part 1

A Bible Study by Jack Kelley

The Book of Acts is sometimes called the Acts of the Apostles because it’s a record of their experiences in building the early Church. That being the case, the Book of Jude could be called Acts of the Apostates because it’s devoted to warning the Church of the false teachers who were coming. This being the time of the Great Apostasy (2 Thes. 2:3) we should review Jude’s 1 chapter letter the the Church and see what it says to us today.
