Abortion And Jewish Law

Q

I have a question concerning Jews and abortion. I was told by 2 Jewish friends that Jewish law did not outlaw abortion. What are your thoughts on this?

A

The taking of a human life has been against God’s Law from the beginning of time. The first 5 books of the Bible contain His Law, which was given to us through the Jewish people. They repeatedly forbid murder, and tell us that the killing of a child is the worst kind of murder.

Since then, the only way any group of people has gotten around God’s law is to deny that a pre-born child is a human life. For example, in Jewish law, although the human soul exists before birth, human life begins at birth, that is, at the time when the child is more than halfway emerged from the mother’s body.

This is merely another man made attempt to circumvent God’s law, for which He will hold all mankind accountable.
