Am I Wrong In The Way I Pray?

Q. My son broke his neck in 2001 and he is a quad now. I have prayed for a healing but I always pray for a complete healing body, soul, mind and spirit … because I am afraid that he might return to his old ways which were not following the Lord. Am I wrong in the way I pray? He has not been healed even though he has been to several healing services and that causes him to doubt that the Lord will heal him. I always pray for Gods’ will to be done since I know I don’t know best. Thank You

A. You didn’t indicate whether your son is a believer or not, but it seems to me like the first step is to confirm that.  If he is a believer then the Lord has accepted responsibility for keeping him that way, so you don’t have to worry about it. (2 Cor. 1:21-22) Then you can work on developing the faith to be healed.

If you’re praying that God’s will would be done in your son’s life you’re praying for his healing because that’s God’s will.  If you’re praying “if it be your will” then you’re expressing doubt in God’s willingness to heal him.  Throughout the gospels, Jesus never refused to heal anyone who asked.  He even put aside His own needs to care for them. (Matt. 14:13-14) He never once said that it wasn’t God’s will for someone to be healed.
