Recently I have come across articles that blame the church for all the evils in the world. These people claim that the world wouldn’t be in the state it’s in if more Christians had entered politics, teaching positions, and other positions of authority, as well as failure to witness. Some of these articles come from Christians. What do you think?
I think this is a human centered view of things. Do the people who talk like this really think God’s plan has been impeded by the church’s inability, or unwillingness, to control the world? If God wanted this world to be a fantastic model of His goodness, He could make it so, and He wouldn’t need the Church to do it.
But it’s the next world that will be perfect, not this one. The purpose of this world is to demonstrate the disastrous effect of sin and give people a chance to be forgiven so they can become part of the next one.
