Q. I know Christ was sinless and never sinned ever, even when tempted but my question is: Could He have sinned if He choose to? I think he could not. I have asked many preachers and elders and have never really gotten a clear answer. Please let me know what you think.
A. Jesus had no sin nature, which means He didn’t have a natural predisposition toward sin like we do. But according to Hebrews 4:15 He was tempted in every way, just as we are—yet was without sin.
I don’t believe a person who lacks the ability to sin could be tempted to do so. It would be like you and I being tempted to flap our arms and fly away. We know we couldn’t do it so we aren’t tempted to try. So I think Jesus had the capability to sin but when faced with temptation chose not to yield to it.
