Do We Need Power Or Faith?

Q

My church is sponsoring a Women’s Conference soon and have chosen as the theme ” Empowering the Christian African American Woman in Strength, Faith, and Fellowship”. What Bible passages are appropriate for this theme? Please reply and advise.

A

There are no Bible verses specific to this topic because it’s not a Biblical issue. Every Christian of every color, whether male or female, young or old is already uniquely empowered by the Holy Spirit for the good of the body of Christ.

There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men. Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each one, just as he determines. (1 Cor. 12:4-7,11)

We have only to discover what our gifts are and begin to use them for the good of the body. The Holy Spirit will provide the rest. The problem isn’t that we lack the power. The problem is that we lack the faith to exercise the power we’ve already been given. History has proven time and again that there’s no force on Earth sufficient to prevent a willing believer from exercising the gifts invested in him or her by the Holy Spirit of God. Teach that at your conference and stand back.
