Do We Reap What We Sow?

My question is about sowing of seed and reaping. Do you believe if it is Biblical to expect if I sow the seed of money do I need to expect a reaping of money from that seed ? Or if I sow smiles do I reap smiles? The Bible does say you reap what you sow.

Q. My question is about sowing of seed and reaping. Do you believe if it is Biblical to expect if I sow the seed of money do I need to expect a reaping of money from that seed ? Or if I sow smiles do I reap smiles? The Bible does say you reap what you sow. Thanks and God Bless you.

A. The Scripture you’re quoting is Galatians 6:7-8.

Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.

As you can see it deals with the general type of deeds one sows, not specific things. But I suppose there’s some truth to what you say as well. For example, one who smiles at others a lot will get more smiles back. And I’ve also found that generous givers are often blessed financially. ut be careful about giving with an expectation of return. We’re supposed to give from the motivation of gratitude for what we’ve already received, not for what we expect to get.
